Mohamed Salah set for Trabzonspor transfer as club confirm negotiations and arrival in Turkey to finalise deal after Liverpool exit

Trabzonspor have said on social media that "negotiations have begun" around the signing of Egypt international Mohamed Salah, who became a free agent after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

The Turkish club have also confirmed that Salah is set to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday and will then travel to Trabzon.
"The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club's official communication channels during the day," the club wrote.
Salah, 34, Egypt to the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where they were eliminated by eventual runners-up Argentina.
Salah had previously been linked to Trabzonspor's Turkish rivals Besiktas earlier this transfer window, as well as a potential move to MLS or Saudi Arabia.
It had previously been reported that Trabzonspor had offered Salah a salary of €17 million (£14.6 million) when the club met with the player's representatives.
Earlier this week though, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan dismissed reports linking the Turkish club with a move for Salah, insisting there is no agreement in place despite growing speculation.
During his time at Liverpool, Salah established himself as one of the greatest players to ever play for the club, winning multiple trophies and breaking countless records.
He left Anfield with two Premier League trophies and a UEFA Champions League winners' medal.
He finished with 257 goals in 442 appearances in all competitions, sitting third in Liverpool’s all-time goalscorers charts and fourth in the Premier League all-time scoring list with 191 goals.
Trabzonspor are managed by former Turkey international Fatih Tekke and the team boasts a number of international players.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana recently rejoined on loan from Manchester United for the second season in a row, while Stefan Savic, Paul Onuachu and John Lundstram have all had stints in the Premier League.
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish top-flight last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League as a result, and also won the Turkish Cup.
