Juventus' Khephren Thuram and Internazionale's Marcus Thuram both scored in a pulsating Derby d'Italia that saw the Old Lady triumph 4-3 thanks to an injury-time winner. Playing in front of father and Juventus great Lilian Thuram, both brothers fired bullet headers at opposite ends of the pitch six minutes apart, though Khephren insisted all was well between the pair after the final whistle.

Juventus' Khephren Thuram insisted there were no hard feelings with Internazionale striker Marcus Thuram after both brothers scored in an extraordinary Derby d'Italia.

The midfielder also revealed that his headed equaliser was a cruel twist for Marcus, who, along with their father and Juventus great Lilian Thuram, had told Khephren to score more headers.

Just six minutes separated the siblings' second-half goals in a see-saw Serie A clash that eventually saw Juventus run out 4-3 winners thanks to Vasilije Adzic’s stunning injury-time effort.

Marcus pounced on Juventus confusion following a triple substitution, directing a bullet header past Michele Di Gregorio to give Inter their first lead of the night at 3-2 with 14 minutes to go after they had twice fallen behind in the first half.

However, it did not take long for the hosts to respond, and it was a goal worthy of a Hollywood script, as Khephren produced a carbon copy headed finish past Yann Sommer to bring the sides level once again.

Khephren was again involved when, under 60 seconds into five minutes of injury time, Adzic unleashed a laser from around 40 yards out that beat Sommer at his near post, securing bragging rights for Juventus.

"He [Marcus] told me with his eyes 'well done', because he is a great brother. He was proud of me," Khephren told DAZN Italia, translated by Football Italia.

"Both he and my father tell me I am not good with my head and should score more headers, so I was glad to score with my head today.

"It was difficult for us, because Inter are a great team, they have very strong midfielders who move well off the ball.

"It means we have to run more, and we did it, so we are happy with the victory."

The result means Juventus temporarily moved to the top of the Serie A table, before Napoli’s match with Fiorentina later on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Inter dropped to 11th having picked up just three points from their opening three games.

It was a promising return to club football for the Thuram brothers after both spent the international break with France.

Khephren was an unused substitute in both of Les Bleus’ World Cup qualifying victories and remains stranded on one cap, won in 2023, but Marcus enjoyed a more fruitful spell as he started against Iceland and drew the foul for Kylian Mbappe to score from the penalty spot.

And they played out a fairytale finish at Allianz Stadium under the watchful eye of father Lilian, who played 204 times and won two Serie A titles with Juventus, and was France’s most-capped player until 2022.

Cameras immediately cut to Lilian in a febrile crowd after Khephren’s equaliser, as the 53-year-old shook his head in disbelief after yet another personal twist.

The brothers take a break from domestic duty next as the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League kicks off before the return of Serie A.

Khephren will hope to help Juventus beat Borussia Dortmund at home in their first League Phase game, while Marcus and Inter travel to Ajax looking to return to winning ways after reaching the final last season.
