INTER BEAT PARMA TO CLAIM SERIE A CROWN

Inter Milan won the Serie A title with three games to spare after beating Parma 2-0 at a jubilant San Siro.

A quiet opening 45 minutes burst into life on the stroke of half-time when Marcus Thuram picked up the ball on the right side of the penalty area and fired into top-left corner to beat impressive Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and give Inter a 1-0 lead.

The hosts continued to control possession during a closely-fought second half.

Former Arsenal and Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan wrapped up the win in the 80th minute when he tapped in Lautaro Martinez's cross in the 80th minute.

Martinez almost put the cherry on the cake in the closing stages, creating a chance with a superb dribble before passing the ball to Federico Dimarco.

The defender gave it back to Martinez inside the area, but the striker's shot was well saved by Suzuki.

It did not impact the result as Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for the 21st time, second behind only Juventus, who have won 36 titles.

Inter were runners-up to Napoli last season in Serie A.
