BARCELONA CLAIM 16TH SUPERCOPA DE ESPANA IN THRILLING EL CLASICO WIN AGAINST REAL MADRID
Raphinha's double alongside a Robert Lewandowski strike were enough to beat Los Blancos in Jeddah despite a crazy spell that saw three goals in added time of the first half.
The win means Barcelona have beaten Madrid in five of their past six occasions as focus shifts back to La Liga and the Champions League.
Despite Barcelona seeing the majority of the ball in the first half, Madrid had the two best chances in the opening 30 minutes.
Vinicius Jr and Gonzalo Garcia both had guilt-edged chances to put their side ahead but their efforts were tame.
Raphinha broke the deadlock a minute after scuffing a golden chance of his own as he drilled home a low shot in the 36th minute.
Vinicius Jr scored an incredible solo goal to drag his side level in the second minute of added time, curling his effort past Joao Garcia.
Two minutes later, Lewandowski was played in on goal and he chipped the ball over Thibaut Courtois to restore Barca’s lead.
However, the half wasn’t over as Dean Huijsen crashed a header against the bar before Garcia put the rebound away in the 52nd minute.
The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute as Raphinha’s deflected shot flew past a wrong-footed Courtois to seal the trophy for Barcelona.
Frenkie De Jong was sent off in the 91st minute for a studs up challenge on Kylian Mbappe.
A final chance for Madrid fell to Alvaro Carreras but his shot from eight yards out was straight at Garcia in goal.
