DEJA VU AS ROGERS SENDS SPURS OUT OF FA CUP WITH HOME FANS BOOING ONCE AGAIN
Morgan Rogers grabbed the winner as Aston Villa surged into the Emirates FA Cup fourth round with a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur that piles more pressure on Lilywhites boss Thomas Frank.
The England star continued his excellent form when he polished off a slick move in first-half stoppage time to net his eighth goal of the season from Emiliano Buendia’s pass.
The visitors had opened the scoring on 22 minutes when the impressive Buendia hammered a rising shot into the roof of the net from Donyell Malen’s incisive ball.
It had been one-way traffic in the first half, but Tottenham improved following the interval and reduced the arrears on 54 minutes thanks to Wilson Odobert’s low strike.
The hosts had Villa rattled in the ensuing moments, but Unai Emery’s men steadied the ship and hung on to dump The Lilywhites out of the competition for the second season in a row.
Next up, Spurs host West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
Villa are at home to Everton a week on Sunday.

TNT SPORTS PUNDIT ALAN HUTTON REACTS TO VILLA’S FA CUP WIN AT SPURS
"In the first half I though they [Villa] were really good, the way they moved the ball – the passing, the movement. In the second half they went off it, but I think that was always going to happen. Spurs were going to come at them at some point. They were going to get some sort of foothold in the game and I thought the reaction was quite good. They showed good character.
"Palhinha in the middle was getting around the pitch making tackles and Simons looked like a driving force, but unfortunately they didn’t have it in the end and Villa managed to hang on.
"Overall, it was a good game and I thought it was an exciting cup match, but Villa deserved to win it in the end."

"It will be a major setback if Spurs go out tonight. When you're given a home tie against anyone, you should back yourself but they started the game so passively. They didn't get going until the second half."

GLENN HODDLE REACTS TO PALHINHA'S CAUTION ON TNT SPORTS
"When I first saw it, I thought it was a fabulous tackle. He might have caught Rogers with the intensity of the tackle. Has he gone over the top? I think it's a fabulous tackle, I'm sorry. I don't care what era you're in. He gets booked for it. I don't know where the game goes when you're booking players for that."
