Marc Guehi said ”you have to enjoy it” after celebrating five wins over Liverpool this season, the latest a 4-0 victory for Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
Guehi joined City in the January transfer window and before then he played for Crystal Palace, who had already defeated Arne Slot’s men on three occasions, meaning that the England international has enjoyed five victories against the same opponents.
An Erling Haaland hat-trick, as well as a goal from another January signing, Antoine Semenyo, gave City a comfortable victory that sees them into the semi-final stages for the eighth successive season.
City are out of the UEFA Champions League this season, but have lifted the Carabao Cup, and are in with an outside chance of landing the Premier League, though Arsenal possess a healthy nine-point advantage at the top of the table despite having played an extra game.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the win, Guehi was asked about his remarkable run of success against Liverpool and he was reluctant to take all the praise.
He answered: "It's not me. It's just a coincidence to be honest. You have to enjoy it. It's not a long career, so that's what I'm trying to do.

”At Man City it is relentless, having to learn a lot and make mistakes. I have been given the opportunity to do that with an amazing team, amazing manager and the fans have been great as well."
Discussing his manager, Pep Guardiola, Guehi added: "He's exactly how you see him. How he comes across on TV, in interviews, that's exactly how he is. He just loves football, loves his players, and he wants to win."
Guehi was pleased with the manner of the victory, and despite their relative struggles this season, he thinks the team are coming good at a crucial point in the campaign.
He explained: ”It was a good win, the manager always says it’s important to arrive at the right time. I think at the end of the season it’s big games, it’s big moments, it’s important to arrive. Against a really good Liverpool side, we did that today.”

‘You stick together’ - Guehi hails team spirit

The 25-year-old was also happy with a clean sheet against a team who boasted threats such as Hugo Ekitike and Mohamed Salah, though the Egyptian failed to convert a penalty for the visitors.
”It’s not easy,” he acknowledged. ”You're up against top players, against a top team, you’re going to have to suffer at times, and it’s important you stick together in those moments.
”For them to not create a chance is almost impossible with the quality that they have. But when you suffer those moments, you go through the game, enjoying those moments, sticking together, you can grow into the game, and we did that today.”
Guehi also picked out team-mate Haaland for praise after his three goals, saying that the Norwegian had continued to contribute to the team despite a relatively fallow period by his standards in front of goal.

He said: ”Super happy for him. He’s worked his hardest for the team. He went through a period where he wasn’t scoring too many goals. It’s so important as a team that you show that resilience, you show that fight, because we have the quality up front - all around the pitch, to be honest.
”When you stay in the game, make those blocks, people helping each other, we’ve got a chance to win a game up front.”
