Algeria 0-2 Nigeria result - Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams put Super Eagles into the AFCON semi-finals at the expense of Algeria

Second-half goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams secured Nigeria a comfortable victory over Algeria, setting up ann AFCON semi-final clash with hosts Morocco.

In truth the gap could and should have been a lot wider, with Algeria not managing a shot on target during the tie.

Nigeria were controversially not in front at the break after Ademola Lookman's free-kick was turned towards goal by Calvin Bassey only for Ramy Bensebaini to clear on or just over the line. With no goal-line technology it was not possible for VAR to overturn the decision.

Algeria survived the first-half onslaught but were broken three minutes after the break when Bruno Onyemaechi's deep cross was headed home by Osimhen.

The lead was doubled by Adams. He earlier missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half and later headed against the post with the goal gaping but, on this occasion, after Osimhen's unselfish square ball, he went around goalkeeper Luca Zidane and tapped home.

The referee really should have blown up earlier. Belghali brings down Simon and it seems gets a yellow card.

Osimhen was set to come off, but the full-back was cramping up so left the field instead.

Neither side really wanted this long you felt.

Adams and Lookman go off. Awaziem and Deli-Bashiru come on.

He took an age to take the goal kick.

He was under pressure on the dge of the box but got his shot away, only for it to sail wide of the goal.

Osimhen races in the right hand side of the penalty area with Lookman in the area. His first cross is blocked but he then clips a ball back towards Adams who heads against the woodwork with the goal gaping.

Berkana and Abdelli come on. They replace Amoura and Boudaoui.

Adams meets it ten yards from goal but heads over the bar.

He brought down Lookman from behind and gets a booking.

But his ball across the six-yard box is cleared by Algeria.

Nigeria not taking any chances with their skipper.

An understandable cynical foul to stop the breakaway.

It looks like a non-contact injury and possibly a hamstring. If there is any danger, their skipper will surely be taken off.

The substitute was threatening to put in a dangerous cross but the Nigeria full-back stopped him.

Bounedjah, Mousa and Boulbina come off. Zerrouki, Mahrez and Maza come off.

He hasn't done much but that is a surprise. He was taken off in the 70th minute in the last match, but you still would've fancied him as much as anyone to get Algeria back into the game.
