United and Arsenal linked with Kolo Muani move
Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.
The Daily Mail says that PSG are willing to sell the 25-year-old in January for "between £33 million and £42 million".
The paper notes: “Two Premier League heavyweights have been named as potential destinations for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.
“The striker, 25, signed for PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt for £77 million in 2023 but has managed just 11 goals in 50 appearances.
“Now the Ligue 1 champions are prepared to offload him in January for between £33m and £42m,
“Arsenal and Manchester United could be potential destinations but that the identity of the latter's next manager - at this stage looking likely to be Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim - will be influential.”
Newcastle target Mbeumo
Newcastle hope to sign Bryan Mbeumo this January, but they face at least one obstacle in signing the Brentford man.
The Telegraph writes that they face financial restrictions that would require them to balance the books with player sales.
The paper explains: “Newcastle United are discussing the possibility of signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo in January but manager Eddie Howe is facing tough spending restrictions.
“Although Newcastle are keen to strengthen their squad, if a big money signing is made in the winter window the club would have to sell someone in the summer.
“The club parted with wingers Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively to avoid breaching profit and sustainability rules in the summer.
“The problem remains an ongoing concern for a club that continues to languish behind the Big Six in revenue streams despite the takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Newcastle have spent more than £400 million on players since the takeover in October 2021, but have struggled to recoup money through player sales.”
Arsenal turn down Jesus approach
The Mirror believes that Brazilian side Palmeiras failed in an attempt to sign Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian is struggling for minutes under Mikel Arteta, but the manager is not willing to sell him at the moment.
The paper states: “Arsenal have rejected an approach from Brazilian side Palmeiras for Gabriel Jesus.
“Jesus is yet to score in 11 appearances for the Gunners this season and has completed 90 minutes just once. He has fallen behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order and has been relegated to a role as a late substitute in the Premier League. But Mikel Arteta considers the struggling striker an important part of his squad.
“There has been plenty of speculation about his future, with reports from Brazil suggesting that Arsenal could be tempted to sell in January if their valuation - claimed to be in the region of £33.4m - is met. Jesus is under contract with Arsenal until June 2027 and appears keen to stay and fight for his place as the team challenge for the Premier League title.”
United close in on Amorim
The Sun believes that Ruben Amorim is getting ever closer to a move to Manchester United.
The Sporting CP boss will cost €10 million (£8.3 million) if his release clause is met after United sacked Erik ten Hag.
The paper claims: “Sporting all but confirmed Manchester United will poach Ruben Amorim after announcing the Red Devils will pay his £8.3 million release clause.
“And now it seems to be when, not if, United will replace Erik ten Hag with the Sporting boss.
“Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Old Trafford board sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday following the 2-1 defeat at West Ham.
“And they are wasting no time in trying to find his permanent replacement.
“Now Sporting said Manchester United chiefs are already in contact about taking Amorim to get the ship back on the right course again.”
