Manchester United may move for Manuel Ugarte after Scott McTominay transfer to Napoli - Paper Round

Manchester United may now be able to afford Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte as Scott McTominay nears a move to Napoli, while Crystal Palace have been linked with Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri. Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsdale could be loaned out by Arsenal, but they are likely to insist any deal ultimately becomes a permanent switch.

Man Utd could now move for Ugarte
Manchester United could use funds from selling Scott McTominay to Napoli to buy Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
United accepted a bid of approximately £25 million for the Scotland international, which could free up money for Ugarte.
The Independent explains: “Manchester United have agreed a deal in principle to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli, giving the Scotland midfielder a decision to make whether to end his long association with the club.
“The 2023 Serie A champions have offered a fee of around €30m (£25m) for McTominay which United have accepted - but the 27-year-old would need to agree personal terms and choose to leave Old Trafford for the move to be completed.
“McTominay, who signed for United in 2013 but who had trained with their academy for a decade before, has made 255 appearances for them, scoring 29 times, and has featured in all three games this season as a substitute.
“If he goes, United could put the proceeds towards a bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguay international has been their top midfield target this summer but there has been a difference in the two clubs’ value of the player. As a homegrown player, McTominay’s fee would count as pure profit in PSR accounts.”
Palace look to land Nketiah
Crystal Palace could make a bid for Eddie Nketiah as they hunt for a new striker.
Nketiah almost joined Marseille and Nottingham Forest earlier in the window, but both moves fell through.
The Athletic writes: “Crystal Palace are considering a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
“Nketiah had looked close to joining Nottingham Forest after the City Ground club agreed a fee worth up to £30 million ($39.6m) with Arsenal for the 25-year-old.
“But that deal has broken down after Forest were unable to finalise an agreement with the player.
“Nketiah had previously appeared ready to join Marseille earlier this summer but the French side and Arsenal were unable to compromise on a price for the proposed switch. Marseille have since signed Elye Wahi from Lens.
“Palace have held a long-standing admiration for Nketiah and spoke to Arsenal regarding the England international earlier this summer.”
Palace plot Ait-Nouri swoop
Crystal Palace could propose a swap deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.
They want the Algeria international, and could offer Sam Johnstone in exchange.
The Sun reports: “Crystal Palace have an eye on Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri.
“[The] Eagles are looking for a left-sided player who can operate in Oliver Glasner’s system - and Ait-Nouri is their first choice.
“Wolves will want £30 million-plus for the Algerian, 23, who has been courted by several leading clubs in the past.
“But Palace may have an asset in keeper Sam Johnstone, who is fancied by Wolves.
“A swap could work for both parties, with Gary O'Neil looking for a shot-stopper.”
Arsenal set Ramsdale terms
Arsenal are willing to send Aaron Ramsdale out on loan as they hope to bring in Joan Garcia from Espanyol as a replacement if needed.
However, the Mirror states that any deal would include an obligatory clause to purchase the goalkeeper.
The paper explains: “Arsenal are keen to negotiate an obligation to buy in any potential loan deal for Aaron Ramsdale in the final stretch of the summer transfer window.
“The Gunners won't stand in the England international goalkeeper's way if he wishes to pursue regular playing time but any move must make financial sense for both Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu as they would also be tasked with finding a suitable replacement before the August 30 deadline.
“Espanyol's Joan Garcia is understood to be a leading target, though he has a £25.4 million release clause written into his current contract in Catalonia and would not come cheap. Personal terms with Garcia are unlikely to prove an issue, if Arsenal decided to press the button on a transfer.
“Southampton had been in talks with The Gunners over a loan swoop for Ramsdale, who watched their Championship play-off triumph over Leeds at Wembley Stadium in May, and were exploring the inclusion of an obligation-to-buy clause that would automatically be triggered if they secured Premier League safety but they have now struck a deal with Feyenoord for Justin Bijlow.”
