Palace face battle for Cherki
The Sun believes that Crystal Palace may have a tough time landing Lyon forward Rayan Cherki.
French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga challengers Borussia Dortmund are also keen.
The paper reports: "Crystal Palace’s bid to sign Lyon magician Rayan Cherki has been hit by European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund joining the race.
"The French aristocrats and German powerhouse are ahead of Palace in the chase for the 21-year-old.
"He is expected to cost around £30 million and The Eagles had hoped Lyon owner John Textor – who is trying to sell his stake in Palace – would be able to swing the deal their way.
"But instead, PSG and Dortmund are willing to pay the money that matters."
Ashworth faced doubts over transfers
The Independent believes that Dan Ashworth’s recruitment performance had been called into question at Manchester United.
In addition, the director was also a victim of too many other influential figures behind the scenes making his role harder.

The paper explains: "Dan Ashworth has left Manchester United because Sir Jim Ratcliffe wanted to act on something he felt wasn’t working rather than wait in the hope that it would work. The stance of the club’s principal decision-maker is that there is no time to waste. It has led to shock at Carrington.
"The big question at Old Trafford is whether that same seriousness will now extend to United’s leadership structure, given that things look increasingly farcical.
"Personality clashes have contributed to Ashworth’s departure. He wasn’t really fitting into the structure either, although that was partly due to a case of ‘too many cooks’. Alongside these reasons was also doubt about some of Ashworth’s judgement.
"Because of this some have even questioned Ashworth’s wider record. They point to how Brighton continued to improve recruitment, despite the departure of Ashworth and many others."
Tottenham plan January transfers
The Telegraph thinks Daniel Levy is in no mood to sack Ange Postecoglou despite recent struggles.
Instead, Postecoglou and the club are planning their January transfer business to improve their recent fortunes.
The paper writes: "Tottenham Hotspur are not planning to make any knee-jerk reactions over the future of Ange Postecoglou, despite pressure building on the club’s head coach following a disappointing run of results.
"Postecoglou faces scrutiny over a run of just one victory in seven games – including Sunday’s 4-3 defeat to Chelsea – that has resulted in Spurs slipping into the bottom half of the Premier League table.
"Telegraph Sport understands that Spurs are not planning to hit the panic button and are focused on doing everything in the club’s power to help Postecoglou and his players turn around the situation.
"Postecoglou has already held transfer meetings with Johan Lange, the Tottenham technical director, with the January window approaching and the club considering making reinforcements."
United consider Berta for Ashworth role
The Daily Express reports that Manchester United are linked with Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta.
The Italian has consistently been linked with United, but now there is a space open after Ashworth’s departure.
The paper writes: "Manchester United have identified Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta as a potential replacement for Dan Ashworth, according to reports. Berta is claimed to be under consideration at Old Trafford after Ashworth's shock exit following Saturday's 3-2 Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest.
"However, United are reportedly already considering alternative figures in the hope of discovering a more suitable fit than Ashworth.
"Berta features on the club's early shortlist after his exploits in the Atletico boardroom.
"The Italian arrived at the La Liga giants in 2013 – having previously worked at Parma and Genoa – and first acted as technical director."
