Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku swap deal still in the works amid Chelsea and Napoli transfer talks - Paper Round

Napoli and Chelsea are reportedly continuing talks over a swap for Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku, while Kepa Arrizabalaga could join Bournemouth on loan before the end of the transfer window. Elsewhere, Raheem Sterling is a target for Premier League side Crystal Palace, and Manuel Ugarte's exit from Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United is nearing completion.

Osimhen-Lukaku deal nears

Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku could still swap clubs, according to a report in the Telegraph.
The two strikers want to move before the end of the summer transfer window.
The paper reports: “Chelsea and Napoli are working to find an agreement over the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, in a deal that could finally open the door for the Premier League club to make a move for Victor Osimhen.
“Osimhen is a long-term target for Chelsea and Lukaku’s exit, with the Belgian striker keen to join Napoli, would allow them to put their transfer plans into motion as they look to strengthen their squad with a new centre-forward.
“Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea head coach, has said that the club will attempt to sign a 'nine' before the end of the summer transfer window.
“Osimhen’s future has been the subject of continued speculation for months, with the 25-year-old now in the final two years of his contract at Napoli.”

Arrizabalaga set for Bournemouth

Kepa Arrizabalaga is closing in on a move to Bournemouth, though only on loan for the season.
The Spaniard was on loan at Real Madrid, but a return to Spain no longer seems on the line.
The Sun writes: “Kepa has held talks with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and is keen to join the club on loan.
“But in a bizarre twist, Chelsea's outcast keeper is set to sign a new deal despite having no future at Stamford Bridge.
“Kepa is entering the final year of his contract and if he goes on loan for a season can then walk away from Chelsea on a free transfer next summer.
“The world's most expensive keeper cost them £72.6m in 2018 but has barely played. His last match was in 2023 and he spent all of last season on loan at Real Madrid.
“Bournemouth are now looking to seal a loan and boss Iraola has spoken to his fellow Spaniard to convince him to come.”

Sterling interests Palace

Crystal Palace are looking at bringing in Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on loan this season.
The 29-year-old forward is also rumoured to be a target for Liverpool, Aston Villa and Juventus.
The Mirror explains: “Crystal Palace have registered their interest in signing Raheem Sterling following his exile at Chelsea. Sterling has accepted that his time at Stamford Bridge is up.
“The 82-time England international wants a permanent move rather than a loan, though, with clubs such as Liverpool, Aston Villa and Juventus already linked since he was first left out [of] Chelsea's matchday squad on Sunday for their 2-0 loss at home to City.
“Although Villa have been offered the chance to sign Sterling, the prospect of him rejoining Liverpool has also been mooted.
“The winger left Anfield to join City in 2015 but still 'loves' the Reds and was reportedly willing to re-sign for them in 2022. That was a non-starter at Liverpool's end, however, and the 29-year-old joined Chelsea for £47.5m.
“Palace will need to make a decision within the next week, as the summer transfer window closes on Friday, August 30.”

Ugarte nears United switch

Manchester United are going to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte, the Daily Mail believes.
The Uruguayan has been the main target for Erik ten Hag as he looks to strengthen ahead of the transfer deadline.
The paper notes: “Manuel Ugarte is absent again from the Paris Saint-Germain squad amidst reports that Manchester United are close to finalising his signing.
“On Friday, Les Parisiens are scheduled to face rivals Montpellier for their Ligue 1 2024/25 home game.
“However, their official squad announcement did not include two players who are reportedly close to leaving: Carlos Soler and Manuel Ugarte.
“As reported by Mail Sport on Wednesday, the Uruguay international's £51 million (€60million) move to Manchester United was close to an agreement between both clubs.”
