Chelsea on new manager hunt
Chelsea have yet to decide on a viable replacement for Liam Rosenior after sacking the Englishman on Wednesday.
Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas, Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva are all tipped as options by The i Paper.
The newspaper explains: "Quite where Chelsea go next is unclear. Former defender Filipe Luis was interviewed to replace Rosenior at Strasbourg and has admirers at Stamford Bridge but it feels inconceivable that they would go with another inexperienced coach to lead a project in danger of veering off the rails.
"Cesc Fabregas, who has Como in the European places in only his second season as manager, is an obvious choice, but there are other options to take over permanently in the summer, with increasing uncertainty over Marco Silva’s future at Fulham.
"Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola will also be a free agent, but some who work in the Premier League believe the way the club operates - with influential sporting directors and a hands-on ownership - will put off truly elite managers from taking the role."
United suffer Tchouameni blow
Manchester United are unlikely to succeed in their quest to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.
Instead, the 26-year-old French international midfielder is set to sign fresh terms at the Bernabeu.
The Mirror reports: "Real Madrid want Aurelien Tchouameni to extend his contract in a blow to Manchester United's hopes of buying him. Tchouameni, 26, is the latest midfielder to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
"The France international joins the likes of Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Carlos Baleba on United's growing shortlist. Tchouameni has become the anchor of Real's midfield since joining the club in 2022, the same summer [in] which Casemiro left Madrid to join United.
"Multiple reports say that Real have no plans to sell Tchouameni and instead they're preparing to offer him a new contract. The former Monaco star's current deal is due to expire in 2028."
Stones to leave City
Manchester City defender John Stones is expected to be in demand this summer when his contract ends.
The 31-year-old has struggled with injury of late, and while City elected not to retain him, The Athletic believes he will have no shortage of suitors.
The website states: "John Stones will leave Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract this summer, with an announcement expected to be communicated next week.
"The mutual decision will bring an end to the 31-year-old’s close to a decade-long stay at the club, where he has won 16 trophies including six league titles and the 2023 Champions League.
"The centre-back has, however, been hampered by injury issues across the past several seasons and has made more than 30 appearances in just one of the past five seasons.
"In 2025-26, the former Everton defender has started in just four Premier League matches for Pep Guardiola’s side.
"It is anticipated that a number of top clubs across Europe will be interested in a summer move for the central defender."
United plan to keep Fernandes
Manchester United want to keep midfielder Bruno Fernandes next season - despite rumours he would depart.
The captain has a ÂŁ56.5 million release clause, but United think Champions League football will convince him to stay.
The Sun writes: "Manchester United have moved to banish any uncertainty surrounding Bruno Fernandes’ future.
"United were prepared to sell Fernandes to Saudi club Al-Nassr amid an ÂŁ80 million offer, but the club captain was convinced to stay by then-head coach Ruben Amorim.
"Fernandes’ contract includes a release clause of €65million (£56.5m) that can be triggered by an overseas club.
"However, the Portugal international has expressed his happiness at United in recent weeks and the club hierarchy believe his future should be assured with Champions League qualification.
"Fernandes is under contract at United until next year, but the club has the option of an additional year."
