Liverpool target Bundesliga star
Liverpool are making a push to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, according to journalist Christian Falk.
The transfer specialist claims that the Premier League champions made the decision to pursue the Dortmund player following the long-term injury to summer signing Giovanni Leoni, while Ibrahima Konate's future at Anfield remains uncertain.
Falk also reports that the 25-year-old has already been offered a new contract by Dortmund, but the player is weighing up his options, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid showing an interest in him too.
The report reads: "There should soon be contact [between Liverpool and Dortmund]. He already has a contract offer [until the summer of 2030] on the table from Dortmund.
"However, if he accepts, he would just earn about €8 million [£6.9m] gross – about €2.5m more than what he’s currently earning at BVB, and he’s not satisfied with this.
"The future looks bright, both competitively and financially, for Schlotterbeck were he to agree a potential switch to Liverpool in an upcoming transfer window.

"With Virgil van Dijk one of the highest-paid defenders in world football, The Reds can evidence the fact that they will reward a top defensive performer.
"FC Bayern Munich are not yet at the table. However, they could soon throw their hat into the ring should Dayot Upamecano clearly signal that he won’t sign a new contract and they don’t manage to get Marc Guehi.
"So, you see, these are three defenders that Arne Slot’s Merseysiders also have an interest in."
Barca ready to battle Madrid for Upamecano
Foot Mercato is reporting that Barcelona are ready to battle their Clasico rivals Real Madrid for the signature of Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.
The 26-year-old is set to become available on a free transfer next summer, with the Bundesliga champions failing to agree fresh terms with the defender so far.
Although the report claims that Upamecano is still open to continuing his career in Germany, he has attracted interest from the Spanish giants, with Manchester United also monitoring his contract situation.
The report reads: "According to our information, the defender isn't ruling out any options for his future, not even staying in Munich. But he also has several clubs on his radar.
"In England, several teams are following his situation with interest, notably Manchester United. But currently, it's mainly in Spain that clubs are most on the lookout and pushing behind the scenes.
"They're trying to position themselves now to outpace the competition. Real Madrid, who want to replace Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, is certainly in the running. His profile is popular internally.
"But they're not the only ones to have positioned themselves. FC Barcelona is also very interested and is active, we're told. A new Clasico is likely to be played out on the transfer market, with Dayot Upamecano as referee."
PSG open contract talks with Barcola
Paris Saint-Germain are interested in extending Bradley Barcola's contract at the club, according to L'Equipe.
The French publication claims that the 23-year-old has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
It is also reported that the French and European champions are keen to renew the contracts of Willian Pacho, Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz.
"PSG's approach to this matter is now well known," the newspaper reads. "Once the transfer window closes, Nasser al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos open the files regarding contract extensions.
"Between September and December, the sports advisor for QSI, the club's majority shareholder, will launch negotiations with the players' entourage in order to finalise the signing of new contracts before the end of the season."

Barcelona see Vlahovic as Lewandowski replacement
Tuttosport is reporting that Dusan Vlahovic is Barcelona's No. 1 target to replace veteran striker Robert Lewandowski next season.
The Italian outlet claims that Lewandowski is no closer to reaching an agreement to extend his time with the Liga champions, which could see him leave on a free transfer next summer.
The Calatan club have now set their sights on Juventus striker Vlahovic, who could also be on the move for free after discussions between the player and the club's hierarchy stalled over a new deal.
The newspaper reads: "Dusan Vlahovic's name is also among Barcelona's choices for the centre-forward position.
