Manchester United clear path for £40m Marcus Rashford exit, Manchester City in quiet Elliot Anderson talks - Paper Round

The 28-year-old’s current release clause does not apply to their domestic rivals, allowing United to block any hostile switches within the top tier. Rashford scored England's fourth goal in their World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday night.

Concurrently, head coach Michael Carrick is looking to direct capital toward a £120 million double package for West Ham United stars Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes.

The Telegraph reports: ”Marcus Rashford will be available for £40m this summer, but the Manchester United forward’s release clause does not apply to Manchester City and Liverpool. United are considering a move for Crysencio Summerville as part of a potential £120m double raid on West Ham United for the Netherlands winger and Portugal Under-21 midfielder Mateus Fernandes. 

”United are also keen admirers of Arsenal target Morgan Rogers even if their strong interest in the Aston Villa and England forward is severely complicated by his valuation of up to £100m at a time when most of the club’s summer budget has been earmarked for revamping the midfield.”

Australia international striker Sam Kerr is on the verge of returning to the NWSL to sign with reigning champions Gotham FC following the expiration of her contract with Chelsea. 

The 32-year-old prolific forward departs west London as the joint-highest goalscorer in Chelsea's history after a glittering six-and-a-half-year stint.

The Athletic explains: ”Sam Kerr is set to sign for NWSL side Gotham FC on a free transfer following the expiry of her contract with Chelsea. The 32-year-old Australia striker announced her exit from the eight-time Women’s Super League champions in May, ending a six-and-a-half-year stay that featured five WSL titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups and 116 goals in 158 appearances, the joint-most in the club’s history. 

”The Athletic reported in March that Kerr was expected to leave in the summer, with strong interest from multiple NWSL clubs. According to sources Kerr is set to join reigning NWSL champions and her former club Gotham, though it was known as Sky Blue FC when she played there from 2015 to 2017 and scored 28 goals in 40 appearances.”

Manchester City are continuing low-profile discussions with Nottingham Forest over a big-money deal for midfielder Elliot Anderson. The England international has made it clear that the Etihad Stadium is his preferred destination this summer, meaning a deal is highly probable despite minor gaps in club valuations.

The i Paper states: ”Although the noise has been turned down as England prepare for World Cup lift off, Manchester City remain quietly in talks with Forest. The direction of travel, given his other options have melted away and the player wants to go to the Etihad, is clear even if there is a divergence in valuations at the moment. 

”Anderson’s priority now is to make a mark in a World Cup that looked like a long shot two years ago. At one point, he might have been here in the US with Scotland, given he accepted an invitation from former Newcastle manager John Carver to join Steve Clarke’s set-up. He never seemed to feel truly comfortable with Scotland and withdrew within a day, citing a desire to take more time to make a call over his allegiance.”

Tromso centre-back Abubakar Sedi Kinteh is closing in on a permanent move to Al Ahli. 

The 19-year-old Gambian defender had previously attracted strong interest from Manchester United and West Ham United, while Belgian outfit Club Brugge also launched a late approach. 

However, the player is now traveling to Lisbon to undergo his medical ahead of signing contracts tomorrow.

The Mail reports: ”Tromso defender Abubakar Sedi Kinteh is close to joining Al Ahli. The 19-year-old was watched by Manchester United earlier in the year while West Ham also held an interest. Belgian side Bruges made an approach too in recent weeks. Kinteh is flying to Lisbon this evening from Dublin to sign contracts after his medical tomorrow.”
