Manchester United's deal for AC Milan sensation Rafael Leao hinges on Marcus Rashford future with Barcelona stay uncertain - Paper Round

Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona, who have an option to sign the England international for a reported £26 million. However, it has been said that the Catalan giants would rather extend their loan deal for another season.

The outlet claims United are not prepared to commit to signing another left winger until Rashford's situation is resolved.

"A left winger is high on United’s list this summer, but the club are waiting to resolve Marcus Rashford’s future before stepping up their pursuit of targets like AC Milan’s Rafael Leao," reads the article.

"United are still haggling with Barcelona over Rashford, with the La Liga champions-elect keen to renegotiate his £26m buy clause or take the player on loan at the Nou Camp for another year.

"Even if Barca don’t end up signing Rashford permanently, it seems unlikely that he has a long-term future at Old Trafford, due to his £315,0000-a-week wages. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are understood to be monitoring the situation.

"Even so, United cannot commit to signing another left winger while Rashford’s situation remains up in the air despite assessing a number of options such as Leao. The 26-year-old Portugal international is valued at between £50-60m by AC Milan, who are prepared to sell him this summer amid interest from Liverpool and Arsenal."

Chelsea could turn to Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez as their new manager, according to a report in The Independent.

The Blues are searching for a new boss after Liam Rosenior left the club just 106 days into a five-and-a-half year contract.

Xavi, who is out of work since leaving Barcelona in 2024, is just one of several candidates being considered, with Cesc Fabregas and Andoni Iraola also linked.

”Xavi Hernandez is under consideration by Chelsea to be their next manager, as they lean towards a coaching ideology already set down by the four years of the ownership so far,” reads the report.

”The feeling is that the club have made significant progress in instilling a football identity that is now visible in the academy right down through the age groups, and that one of the values of Enzo Maresca was that his teams typified this approach.

”Chelsea consequently want to persevere with a coach of similar principles, which is how Xavi has come into a conversation that also includes Xabi Alonso, Porto's Franceso Farioli and Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas, however, is not expected to leave Como this summer.

”Andoni Iraola is also greatly admired by the football hierarchy but he is seen as of a separate school to the other contenders. Chelsea would have to weigh up whether to commit to a deviation of approach for the first time were they to push for the Basque, although they do have considerable competition for his signature.”

The Telegraph reports that a number of "leading" clubs are monitoring Crysencio Summerville's situation at West Ham.

Summerville has scored seven goals for The Hammers so far this season, but with the club facing the prospect of being relegated, the 24-year-old could leave in the summer.

"Leading English clubs are eyeing a summer move for West Ham forward Crysencio Summerville as interest gathers in players who may be relegated from the Premier League this month," writes the outlet.

"A range of Champions League clubs in England and across Europe have shown interest in Summerville, whose asking price will depend on whether West Ham remain in the top flight.

"West Ham would expect to make a profit on the £25m plus add-ons they paid for Summerville two years ago, after a season when the Dutchman stayed at Leeds in the Championship."
