Marcus Rashford set for Manchester United stay, Real Madrid prepare world-record bid for Michael Olise - Euro Transfer News

Manchester United have a plan to reintegrate forward Marcus Rashford next season, with Michael Carrick signalling a willingness to include him in his first-team squad, according to Christian Falk of the Bayern Insider.

The report claims that there is no truth in the rumours that Bayern Munich had turned their attention to Rashford after missing out on Anthony Gordon, ironically to Barcelona.

Rashford, who is under contract until 2028, enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Camp Nou last season, and Barca's decision to seal Gordon's transfer from Newcastle United prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup has not necessarily brought an end to their interest in his England team-mate Rashford.

But according to Falk, United boss Carrick is determined to work with the 28-year-old as he looks to build on qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Falk writes: "I met Carrick at the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards at the Landmark Hotel. I think he makes a very good impression; he’s a very straightforward kind of guy, and I think he could work with Rashford to get him back to his best.

"It’s normal for Bayern to make a few calls from their shortlist, and Rashford remains a topic at the club, but he’s not the number one topic."

Rashford's salary could also prove a stumbling block, with Bayern looking to lower their wage bill, increasing the chances that he will return to Old Trafford for the 2026/27 season.

Real prepared to pay world-record fee for Olise

Meanwhile, there is increasing belief in Spain that Real Madrid's rebuild under Jose Mourinho could be crowned by a world-record signing in the shape of France and Bayern winger Michael Olise.

Earlier this summer, club president Florentino Perez vowed as part of his re-election campaign that Madrid would "submit a €150 million offer for a player from a Champions League club."

Spanish publication Marca claim the offer that came in and was rejected by Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez was a bluff, in order to complicate Barcelona's genuine attempts to prise the Argentine away from the Spanish capital.

The report continues that Real are willing to step up their interest in Olise, whose valuation could well exceed that of Alvarez.

While Madrid have the financial resources to afford a significant fee for the 24-year-old winger, Mourinho would be open to freeing up further funds through player sales, with Marca suggesting: "The club could push the bid beyond €200m, potentially up to €220m."

That would represent a world-record fee, which would certainly test the stance of Bayern president Herbert Hainer, who warned Madrid when first linked with a move for Olise: "If Florentino Perez wants to send us an offer - which he hasn’t done yet - he can save himself the trouble."

'Mini problem' won't defer Kane extension

Harry Kane's sole focus is on winning the World Cup with England, so talk of there being complications with him signing a new contract with Bayern are wide of the mark, according to the Bayern Insider.

The report claims that Kane, who scored 58 goals in all competitions for Bayern last season, is calm about his future in Bavaria, with the Bundesliga champions determined to extend his contract beyond 2027.

It had previously been reported by Sky Germany that the domestic double winners have already held initial discussions with Kane and his representatives over a potential extension until 2029.

But Falk of the Bayern Insider says there are currently no talks, with Kane in no rush to sit down until after the World Cup despite his public desire to remain at the Allianz Arena.

Falk states: "Bayern wanted to talk with the England skipper, and he held off on talks because he wanted to win the Bundesliga. Then they asked again, and he asked them to hold off in order to focus on the DFB Pokal.

"There was also a dream of winning the Champions League, which further contributed to this situation. And now, we have the same (mini) problem again with the World Cup! And don’t get things twisted - it is a mini problem. Harry has made it very clear that he loves Bayern Munich and wants to stay at the club."

Juventus retain Vicario interest

Sky Sport Italia report that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Vicario remains a target for Juventus, but could face competition from Napoli.

Juve are said to have walked away from a move for Aston Villa and Argentina stopper Emi Martinez due to being priced out of any deal, but Vicario - who lost his place to Antonin Kinsky under Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi - now tops their list of targets.

Sky Sport Italia say Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret would be their second choice if Spurs demand too high a fee for Vicario. Luciano Spalletti coached Meret during Napoli's title-winning season in 2022/23.

Curiously, if Juventus are unsuccessful in signing Vicario, a move for Meret could in turn pave the way for Napoli to table a bid for Vicario, who would be open to a return to Italy.

De Zerbi, who currently sees Kinsky as his No. 1, addressed speculation linking Vicario with a move away from North London at the start of his reign, telling reporters: "I certainly don’t want players who don’t want to stay. I want players who are happy to work at this club."
