Manchester City and Chelsea are facing a battle to land Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who is valued at £75 million, while Arsenal are keen on Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown. Elsewhere, Rangers may finally have secured a replacement for sacked manager Russell Martin, and Frenkie de Jong made a key change to resolve his Barcelona future.

City keen on Forest midfielder Anderson
Elliot Anderson is a £75 million target for Manchester City, according to the Daily Mirror.
City are looking for a potential replacement for Rodri as Real Madrid lurk, but Chelsea might rival them for the Nottingham Forest man.
The paper writes: "Manchester City are plotting a £75m raid on Nottingham Forest for rising star Elliot Anderson.
"But City boss Pep Guardiola is expected to face strong competition for his signature from top-flight rivals Chelsea. Guardiola has kept close tabs on the progress of Anderson, and become a huge admirer of the England international.
"And Guardiola has made Anderson one of his main transfer targets, should he look to strengthen his midfield next summer. Nico Gonzalez has struggled to make an impact at the Etihad, while doubts remain over the long-term future of Rodri.
"The Ballon d'Or winner is a target of Real Madrid, and could be tempted to join the Spanish giants if he fails to agree a new deal with City.
"Anderson will not be short of admirers next summer, with Chelsea also keen on luring him to Stamford Bridge."
Arsenal eye Eintracht Frankfurt defender Brown
Germany international defender Nathaniel Brown could be on his way to Arsenal.
Reports in Germany suggest that Arsenal are looking to add the 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt player to their squad.
The Daily Star explains: "Despite having the best defence in the top flight, The Gunners are interested in a promising young left-back.
"Currently, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori are the main players in that position, with Jurrien Timber and Piero Hincapie able to step in when needed.
"However, according to German publication BILD, Arsenal are keen on 22-year-old Nathaniel Brown.
"Brown, who currently plies his trade for Eintracht Frankfurt, has been a revelation this season. Born to an American father and a German mother, he earned his first senior Germany call-up this month and made his debut against Luxembourg last week."
Rangers move on from Gerrard
After appearing to fail to convince Steven Gerrard to return to Ibrox for a second spell as manager, Rangers could soon appoint a new managerial team.
The Daily Record believes that if Kevin Muscat agrees to join, then Neil McCann could be in the dugout this weekend, before switching to assistant coach.
The paper reports: "Record Sport can reveal Muscat planned to recruit his former Ibrox team-mate as his right-hand man back in 2023, when the Aussie was first interviewed for the job but ultimately lost out to Philippe Clement.
"And that’s why McCann could now be fast-tracked back into the dugout for Saturday’s league clash with Dundee United - if Muscat can be persuaded to up sticks and take on the vacant role as Russell Martin’s successor before then.
"The 52-year-old has been locked in official discussions with club owner Andrew Cavenagh and the American’s top brass over the last 24 hours.
"It’s understood they turned to him as a potential option as fears grow in the boardroom that previous front-runner Danny Rohl has neither the necessary experience nor the support of an already mutinous fan base.
"Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl still has some heavyweight backers in Cavenagh’s camp after a positively received initial interview, but the 36-year-old has been left in the dark for days now while waiting to discover if he’s been successful."
Reasons for De Jong stay revealed
After years of appearing close to the exit at Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong has now committed his future with a new contract.
The Athletic reports that Hansi Flick and a new agent for the midfielder were the key points to resolve his situation.
The website states: "The German manager has been able to unleash the best version of De Jong on the pitch, playing as a holding midfielder and partnering with Spain star Pedri.
"This season, he entered the last year of his deal at the club, as part of a very different Barca team to the one he joined. From an aging side asking for a rebuild back in 2019, to a current squad filled with some of the most exciting young talents in world football, led by Lamine Yamal.
"That has played a big part in De Jong’s insistence to stay. Yes, he is extremely happy with life off the pitch too. But Barcelona have a squad to really contend for big trophies in the near future.
"A switch of agents has been key for him, too. De Jong left his former representative, Ali Dursun, and decided to join forces with sports lawyer Sebastien Ledure.
"According to club sources, this change has been very important for the club to have better communication with the player and find a good outcome for all parties involved."
