Real Madrid respond following talk of £200m transfer bid for Bayern Munich and France star Michael Olise

Olise, who scored 22 goals and contributed 31 assists during an astonishing season with the Bavarians, has been touted as Real's top target this summer.

The response follows claims that Madrid chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez had personally approached Olise's representatives to explore the possibility of a summer transfer.

However, the club have firmly rejected suggestions that any "direct or indirect" discussions have taken place.

"In light of the information published in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest of our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid wishes to clarify that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned footballer, his representatives, or individuals in his circle," reads the statement.

"Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration, and admiration, and regrets the dissemination of speculations that do not correspond to reality.

"Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be addressed first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid."

While firmly rejecting claims of contact, Madrid stopped short of ruling out an interest in Olise altogether.

Instead, the club reiterated that any potential pursuit of a Bayern player would first be conducted through discussions between the two clubs, in keeping with the principles that have long governed their relationship.

The statement comes amid growing interest in Olise following an outstanding spell in Germany.

Since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024, the French winger has developed into one of Europe's most sought-after attacking talents, scoring 27 league goals in 66 appearances and playing a key role in the club's recent Bundesliga title triumph.

Recent reports in Spain claimed Madrid were prepared to invest heavily to strengthen the right side of their attack, with Olise emerging as a leading target.

Spanish publication Marca had claimed on Friday that Madrid would be willing to table an offer of around €200 million or more for Olise.

Bayern, however, remain determined to retain the 24-year-old, and are reportedly preparing a new contract to ward off interest from across Europe.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Bundesliga champions are preparing to reward Olise with an improved long-term contract that would extend beyond the expiry of his current deal in 2029.

The proposed agreement would reportedly increase his annual salary from £13m to £22m, underlining Bayern's determination to fend off interest from Real and secure his future at the club.

Earlier this month, Bayern president Herbert Hainer dismissed suggestions that the club would entertain offers for the winger.

"Michael Olise is a Bayern Munich player with a long-term contract, and we do not sell our players. If Florentino Perez wants to send an offer - which he has not done yet - he can spare himself the effort," Hainer told Bild.
