The right-back has struggled with injuries since arriving from Liverpool last year and has been limited to just 16 appearances so far.

He is said to be ready for a premature departure from the Bernabeu after talks with interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Mirror writes: "New Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa has reportedly told Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave the club seven months after joining from Liverpool.

"Spanish outlet El Nacional report that Arbeloa has sat down with Alexander-Arnold for a frank conversation, telling him to leave Madrid for his own good in the summer transfer window. Arbeloa also told the former Liverpool star that he isn't in Real's long-term plans and it's purely a sporting decision.

"The report adds that Alexander-Arnold's entourage are already working to identify clubs that he could join this summer. Bernabeu chiefs site his poor defensive work rate and underwhelming output in attack as the reasons for deciding to let him go."

Martinelli, Fernandes targeted by Saudi Pro League

The Mirror also carries a report suggesting that a number of high-profile Premier League players are on the shortlist of Saudi Pro League clubs.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah are among those said to be attracting the interest of Saudi Arabian clubs.

Casemiro, who will leave United at the end of the season, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior and Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski are also said to be on the list.

The Mirror writes: "Other Premier League players who are being targeted include Aston Villa pair Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana. Their interest in Salah and Fernandes will come as no surprise, as they've both been heavily linked with a move to Saudi in the past.

"Salah is a target Al-Hilal, Neom and Al-Qadsiah, and Liverpool have told them that he won't be sold in January. Saudi Pro League sporting director Michael Emenalo has a long-standing relationship with the Egypt international, 33, and he'd be [a] driving force behind any move."

Spurs want Robertson

Liverpool's Andy Robertson is the subject of interest for Tottenham Hotspur this January.

The Guardian claims Spurs have made an approach to sign the full-back from their Premier League rivals.

Robertson is out of contract in the summer and looks like ending his nine-year spell at the club after winning every major trophy.

The 31-year-old has made just four starts in the Premier League this season.

The Guardian writes: "Tottenham have made an approach to sign Andrew Robertson from Liverpool. The Premier League champions are open to allowing the long-serving left-back to leave, with only five months remaining on his contract.

"Liverpool respect Robertson’s wish to sort his long-term future as soon as possible. There is a desire on all sides to get a deal done quickly as Thomas Frank wrestles with major availability issues at Spurs.

"The loss of Ben Davies to a season-ending ankle fracture has robbed his team of leadership and an experienced option at left-back, where Djed Spence has recently been playing.

"Another attraction for Spurs is that Robertson is a proven winner. Since the Scotland international joined Liverpool from Hull in 2017 he has secured trophies including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

"Destiny Udogie is Spurs’s only Premier League-proven alternative to Spence at left-back, although the club on Thursday signed the 19-year-old Brazilian Souza from Santos."

Abraham set to make Villa return

Tammy Abraham is set to join Aston Villa from Roma, according to various outlets, including the Daily Mail.

Abraham will return to Villa Park, where he enjoyed a successful spell during the 2018-19 season, scoring 25 goals to help secure promotion to the Premier League.

He is currently on loan at Besiktas but has caught the eye of Unai Emery after seven goals in 18 Turkish Super Lig appearances.

"Tammy Abraham is edging closer to joining Aston Villa with optimism from all parties that a deal can be done in the coming days," reads the article.

"Besiktas have been reluctant to allow Abraham to leave and while there are still some hurdles to overcome, optimism is growing that the 28-year-old can be a Villa player next week.

"Emery has been desperate to add another No. 9 to compete with Ollie Watkins and he allowed Donyell Malen to join Roma earlier this month.

"Abraham had a successful spell on loan at Villa, when he helped them return to the Premier League in 2019, and was keen to move back when he learned of their interest."
