CRYSTAL PALACE BOOK SPOT IN CONFERENCE LEAGUE SEMIS
Ismaila Sarr was on target as Crystal Palace booked their spot in the UEFA Conference League semi-finals despite a 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina.
Oliver Glasner’s men were heavy favourites to progress following a 3-0 first-leg victory at Selhurst Park and dug deep in Italy to progress 4-2 on aggregate.
The Eagles extended their advantage in the tie on 17 minutes when Sarr polished off a fine counter with a bullet header, before Fiorentina levelled from the spot through Albert Gudmundsson on the half hour.

Palace’s control of the tie was tested by injures to Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix, and the hosts took the lead on the night when substitute Cher Ndour sizzled in a long-range strike on 53 minutes.

The Viola pressed but never looked like finding the two goals to force extra time and Palace will now meet Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the last four on April 30.
Shakhtar were 5-2 aggregate winners against AZ Alkmaar in the quarter-finals.
