Chelsea 1-4 Barcelona (2-8 agg): Women's Champions League result as rampant visitors soar into their fifth successive final

Barcelona cruised through to a record-equalling fifth straight UEFA Women's Champions League final, after another 4-1 victory completed an 8-2 aggregate rout of Chelsea.

Aitana Bonmati, Ewa Pajor, Claudia Pina and Salma Paralluelo were all on target for Pere Romeu's side, who matched the scoreline from last week's first leg to sail into yet another showpiece with flying colours.

The visitors extended their advantage in the 25th minute. Bonmati burst away down the right flank, before firing into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Barca doubled their lead on the day after 41 minutes, with Pajor turning home Caroline Graham Hansen's low cross from close range.

Pina then got in on the act before half-time, beating Hannah Hampton by curling in a superb 20-yard strike off the far post.

Parraluelo added a fourth in the dying moments, capitalising on a Niamh Charles error to poke home, while Wieke Kaptein's stoppage-time strike was the merest of consolations for the hosts.

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert conceded that Chelsea were beaten by the better team across the two legs.

"I think the emotions are quite raw just now," she told TNT Sports. "It's fair to say we were beaten fair and square.

"We had a good spell in the first 20 minutes. But if you don't score, Barca are always going to go up the other end and hurt you. They were brilliant again today. We did start well, but we just faded in the game.

"When you know how many goals you need to score, at that point, it becomes more difficult. They're so clinical; they get three chances and score three goals, so credit to them. Going forward, that's something we need to improve.

"For us [after half-time], it was just about playing with a bit of pride. We were 3-0 down and the tie was probably lost at that point. We all represent one of the biggest clubs in the world, which comes with a weight, pressure and expectation that you're going to give everything for the badge.

"We must use this hurt, remember what it feels like, and know we don't want to feel that again - and use it as fuel and motivation to keep going."

Chelsea knew they had a mountain to climb against a side looking to reach a fifth successive final - and one that had won each of their last 17 competitive away matches.

Barca had also won each of their last 17 Champions League two-legged ties, and their class and experience at this level was evident.

Despite their three-goal advantage, Romeu's side showed no signs of slowing down as they successfully went in search of more goals to give themselves even more breathing space.

In the end, it was a procession to the finish line, though Chelsea cannot afford to keep their heads down for too long. Indeed, Bompastor's side now switch their focus to sealing a sixth straight Women's Super League title.
