OL LYONESS SHOW EUROPEAN CREDENTIALS
OL Lyonnes cruised to 3-0 victory against Manchester United in the UEFA Women’s Champions League thanks to a brace from Melchie Dumornay and a goal from Tabitha Chawinga.
Defeat means United remain outside the top four - the direct quarter-final qualification spots.
Eight-time European champions Lyonnes started very much on the front foot, moving the ball well in the final third and putting Manchester United under pressure early on, making the hosts deal with a succession of crosses and passes into the penalty area.
With just over 11 minutes on the clock, Chawinga gave Lyonnes an early but deserved lead, diverting an Ingrid Engen cross past Phallon Tullis-Joyce to put the French side ahead.

United, while they held off plenty of Lyonnes pressure, struggled to impose themselves at the other end of the pitch in the first half.
That was until Melvine Malard missed a huge opportunity to draw the hosts level with what was their first shot of the evening.
Hinata Miyazawa floated a fantastic ball into the box, and it looked to be a certain goal when Malard rose highest to power a header towards goal, but she failed to keep her effort down, instead powering it well over the crossbar.
Marc Skinner made a triple change at the break, electing to introduce Ella Toone, Jess Park and Julia Zigiotti Olme as he looked to get his side back into the match.
United showed more courage when going forward in the second half, looking to play forward and into the final third, although without creating too much in the way of a clear-cut chance.
As the half progressed, United’s early attacking spark fizzled and Lyonnes began once more to dominate proceedings with the ball, albeit without really threatening the United defence.
Jonatan Giraldez’s side had a huge chance to double their lead 15 minutes from time when the impressive Dumornay skipped away from Fridolina Rolfo down the right-hand side before cutting the ball back on a plate for Jule Brand, but she could only fire a tame effort straight at Tullis-Joyce.

Just a few minutes later, Lyonnes had their second courtesy of an unbelievable strike from Dumornay. She received the ball on the edge of the box, shifted it in front of her before firing an unstoppable strike past Tullis-Joyce and into the back of the net.
Dumornay was not done there though. In the final knockings, she grabbed her second and Lyonnes’ third of the night, sweeping home Kadidiatou Diani’s cross first time into the back of the net, putting the icing on the cake of what was a fantastic individual performance from the 22-year-old.
The French outfit move into second in the league phase table, level on 13 points with table-toppers FC Barcelona. United, sit ninth in the table on nine points, just a point outside Juventus in fourth.

A QUIETER HALF
There's not been as much action to speak of in the second period, with either side yet to register a single shot on target in this half. Manchester United's early spark seems to have fizzled and Lyonnes are back to dominating the ball, albeit without creating too much.
67'
TRIPLE SUBSTITUTION FOR OL LYONNES
Diani, Katoto, Shrader and are on for Hegerberg, Shawinga and Heaps.

HEGERBERG FIRES WIDE
Lyon break forward well down the left-hand side, a deflected cross falls into the path of Hegerberg who swivels well before lashing her left foot at the ball but her effort drifts wide of the post.

BETTER FROM UNITED!
Toone feeds Fridolina Rolfö on the left-hand side who floats in a good cross but no United player is able to get on the end of it. United are getting into the right areas in this second half.

LOOKING TO PLAY FORWARD
United have come out for this second half with much more attacking intent, they are moving the ball quicker without as much fear, looking to get into the final third.
49'
SELMA BACHA FIRES WIDE
Bacha has a free-kick in a perfect position and tries to curl it into the top corner but it doesn't curl enough, flying well wide of the post. She'll be disappointed with that given how good her quality is from dead-ball situations.

WE ARE BACK UNDERWAY!
The ball is rolling in Leigh for the second half.
