Wolfsburg 1-2 Chelsea result - Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr inspire comeback win in Germany as visitors qualify for the quarter-finals

Chelsea came from behind to beat two-time winners Wolfsburg 2-1 in the UEFA Women's Champions League, securing their place in the quarter-finals.

After going behind early in the first half, goals from Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr won the game for Chelsea and ensured they finished in the top four.

Wolfsburg deservedly took the lead after 16 minutes, with Alexandra Popp making the most of Livia Peng’s mistake.

Peng had tried to clear her lines, but instead picked out Levels, who played in Popp and the striker powered the ball into the back of the net.

Wolfsburg continued to dominate the first half as Chelsea slipped out of the top four, with other teams' results also not going their way.

However, Sonia Bompastor’s side improved as the half went on and Bronze brought them level right before the break.

Bronze leapt highest to connect with a corner and headed past the goalkeeper to equalise and move the Blues back into the top four.

Chelsea continued the second half in the same vein as they ended the first, with Erin Cuthbert twice forcing the goalkeeper into good saves, while Alyssa Thompson also rattled the woodwork.

The visitors continued to dominate the second half, and they were rewarded after 64 minutes, as Kerr’s third goal of the campaign put Chelsea in front.

Substitute Johanna Rytting Kaneryd found some space down the right-hand side, before crossing to Kerr, who produced a deft header into the far corner.

Wolfsburg fought hard to find an equaliser late on, but Chelsea stood strong to secure a third-place finish, while the German side ended the league phase in ninth, meaning they go into the play-off round.
