Canada 1-1 Bosnia-Herzegovina – 2026 FIFA World Cup result as Cyle Larin's late equaliser snatches point for tournament co-hosts in Toronto

Substitute Cyle Larin wrote himself into Canadian folklore as his goal earned the tournament co-hosts their first ever point at a World Cup in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

It took 17 minutes for the Maple Leaf Team to create the opening chance, with possession falling invitingly for Jonathan David - but his low drive from near the penalty spot was too close to the goalkeeper.

Minutes later, Jovo Lukic headed Bosnia into the lead, nodding home from close range after meeting Sead Kolasinac’s near post flick-on from a corner.

The response from Jesse Marsch’s side was strong but they were wasteful in the final third, with Tani Oluwaseyi in particular guilty of lifting a great chance over the bar.

A stunning Kolasinac clearance, smashing the ball against his own bar, then denied what looked like a certain Richie Laryea goal after the break, while Oluwaseyi had another opportunity diverted off the line.

In the end, it took substitute Larin to grab a late equaliser as he converted within three minutes of coming off the bench with a strike that found the bottom corner from inside the area via a deflection.

The forward could have grabbed a winner in injury time but his close range shot was blocked as Canada extended their unbeaten run to nine matches, whereas Bosnia were fortunate to escape with their sixth successive draw.
