Jake Dixon living his 'absolute dream' after latest Moto2 win at Aragon after enduring 'nightmare' at start of season

Jake Dixon was delighted to claim victory at the Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, but took time out from celebration to dedicate the victory to Sylvain Guintoli and his unwell son. The 28-year-old claimed his second race win of the season, having also won the British GP in August. Dixon now leads the pack of chasers behind the main title contenders.

Jake Dixon produced the most dominant performance of his Moto2 career on Sunday afternoon with an impressive win in the Aragon Grand Prix.

The 28-year-old was on pole and produced the fastest lap of the day en route to his victory.

During his post-race interview, Dixon was evidently delighted.

He said: "Wow I'm living my dream well and truly."

However, Dixon would go no further before addressing the news that Sylvain Guintoli's son has been diagnosed with cancer.

The CFMoto Inde Aspar rider said: "First of all this one's for Sylvain and his little boy and his family. I dedicate that win to the tough times that they're going through. Luca you gave me the strength then bro. Keep fighting we're all behind you."

After having addressed Guintoli's situation, Dixon returned to the subject of his victory.

He continued: "I'm living my absolute dream. I've turned the season around. I was living a nightmare at the beginning of the year but it taught me so many lessons. How to be grateful for what I have and how to be present in the moment."

Dixon suffered a heavy crash at the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix before withdrawing from the Portuguese GP as he continued to feel the effects. He finished 23rd in the GP of the Americas, retired from the Spanish GP, and was 17th in the French.

Since then, things have swung significantly for the Dover-born driver with his victory in Aragon making it two wins from three races after he also triumphed at the British Grand Prix in August.

Dixon went on to underline his gratitude.

He said: "I can't thank the fans enough to cheer me. Yeah fantastic, my family and everyone. I just can't believe that I'm in the world championship, winning races and doing the things that I'm doing. It's always been a dream and yeah I'm super, super grateful to my family to get me in this position."

Dixon's improved form has seen him rocket up the World Championship standings and he now sits fifth with eight races remaining in the season.
