'Pain to his left shoulder was too intense' - Maverick Vinales misses Grand Prix Austria Sprint through injury, will also miss Sunday’s race

Red Bull KTM Tech3 confirmed on Saturday that Maverick Vinales would not be fit enough to take part in Grand Prix Austria's Sprint, and Sunday's full-length race. The team said in a statement that "the pain to his shoulder was too intense" for him to take part in any more of the weekend's action. The Sprint race was won by Ducati Lenovo's Marc Marquez.

Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Maverick Vinales missed Saturday’s Grand Prix Austria Sprint, and will also be absent from Sunday’s race.
The Spaniard had passed a medical ahead of FP1 and took part in both of Friday’s practice sessions, completing 22 laps.
He was making his return to racing after a shoulder injury suffered at Grand Prix Germany, which saw him miss both races at Sachsenring and then Grand Prix Czech Republic.
He took part in qualifying on Saturday morning, but a medical after that session ruled him out of the afternoon’s Sprint, and Sunday’s full-length race.
In a statement, Red Bull KTM Tech3 confirmed: "Even if he tried to give it another go this morning, the pain to his left shoulder was too intense.
"Another medical check declared Maverick Vinales unfit for the remainder of the Austrian Grand Prix.

"The recovery continues for Mav as we hope to see him again very soon."
Vinales had been the slowest in Q1, and now faces a rush to recover in time for next weekend’s Grand Prix Hungary, with the action starting on Friday, August 22, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Red Bull KTM Tech3's other racer, Enea Bastianini, finished in seventh spot.
The race was won by Ducati Lenovo's Marc Marquez. Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini was second, with Red Bull KTM's Pedro Acosta in third.
