MotoGP Grand Prix France – Jorge Martin delivers shock win from Bezzecchi as Ogura completes an all-Aprilia podium in Le Mans

Jorge Martin has struck gold in Le Mans, stealing victory in the closing laps from teammate Marco Bezzecchi. Martin charged from the third row, with an official winning margin of 0.477s at the chequered flag.

Ai Ogura completes an unforgettable podium, finishing third and less than one second adrift from the win. It also completes the first all-Aprilia podium, marking a truly historic day for the Italian brand.

Further back, Fabio Di Giannantonio claimed a late fourth following an epic last-lap scrap with Pedro Acosta. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo is the top home hero in P6, whilst Johann Zarco finished down in P11.

Brad Binder, Joan Mir, Francesco Bagnaia, Diogo Moreira and Alex Marquez all crashed out – adding to the French GP drama.

Winner on Saturday, winner on Sunday, Jorge Martin impresses once more in Le Mans. The No. 89 ends an emotional day with extra silverware and another broken screen through celebrating post-race as he is left searching for the words to explain his feelings.

Martin said: ”It is unbelievable, I still want to say Vive la France because I was so grateful to all the fans, but I have to remember my family, my team, my girlfriend, my dog and everyone who has been with me during this tough time.

”I don’t have words, so thank you, as today was a good race and I enjoyed it.”

Marco Bezzecchi finishes as runner-up this time around, clinching second position after a great fight with his teammate. Bezzecchi continues to lead the MotoGP world championship, bringing plenty of positives to Barcelona.

Bezzecchi added: ”It was a very tough race, super long, as I knew I wasn’t the strongest and I tried my best. Honestly, I don’t know how I managed to lead three-quarters of that race because my pace wasn’t good and I wasn't feeling comfortable.

”The whole weekend, I have struggled a bit. I never felt super good with my bike, so this was the maximum I could do. I really gave it my all to get this result, so I am super happy.

”Thanks to all my team, congrats to Jorge, and now we think about Montmelo.”

Ai Ogura completes the podium, becoming the first Asia Talent Cup rider to stand on the MotoGP podium. Ogura ends the day incredibly happy as he moves one step closer to his first win.

Ogura said: ”What can I say, it feels amazing, the race was really tough as I tried to attack from the beginning, but I lost a couple of positions and had to fight back again.

 ”It was not an easy race, but we had a good late race pace, and I’m super happy about the race and my guys, so let’s go and celebrate!”

What a ride, what a move and what a GP. This is the moment that Jorge Martin stole the lead from his teammate with just a handful of laps remaining in Le Mans.

Jorge Martin is your French GP winner after a perfect ride from the third row of the grid. He’s done the double and, most importantly, closed the gap in the MotoGP world championship, adding extra spice to the 2026 season. Bezzecchi and Ogura round out the podium, making it a magical day in Noale.

Jorge Martin is already storming into the distance, creating a huge gap over his teammate and extending to over half a second. If Bezzecchi is not careful, Ai Ogura will soon be on the attack as the podium continues to be locked out by Aprilias.

Further back, Pedro Acosta and Fabio Di Giannantonio are putting on a show, fighting for P4 heading onto the final lap.

Here we go! Less than three-tenths separate our race leaders, with the factory Aprilia pair ready to trade blows. The true Jorge Martin is clearly BACK with the hopes of closing in on the championship lead.

Martin gets the perfect drive down the main straight, looking for an opportunity at turn three. The No. 89 launched the move from miles behind, getting the Aprilia stopped and stealing the Grand Prix lead – Martin leads.

The action is continuing out on the circuit, with the lead group beginning to bunch up once more. Ai Ogura continues to be the rider on the move, launching in fourth position after eventually finding his way through DiGi. Ogura has swiftly latched onto the back of Acosta’s KTM with a move arriving at the start of lap 23.

It was a perfect move from Ogura, making it an Aprilia one-two-three.

Joan Mir has crashed yet again, another disappointing result for the 2020 world champion and Honda. Mir has crashed in sector four and eventually walks away from the incident. Brad Binder has also crashed out, scoring no points on Sunday and bringing a disappointing end to the weekend.

Already, the gap has reduced by over half a second, with Marco Bezzecchi clearly feeling the pressure from behind. Martin has been so impressive this weekend, launching from the third row and winning in yesterday’s Sprint.

The sun is also beginning to show once more, with some blue skies and the signs of rain disappearing.

Jorge Martin is charging hard in France and has caught Pedro Acosta at an impressive rate over the last couple of laps. Martin has roughly been half a second quicker and now searches for a way past the KTM rider.

The move arrives on lap 18, sending the attack at turn three and showing no way back through for Acosta. With Martin now in second position, the race lead is on – the lead gap sits at 1.533s.

Francesco Bagnaia has crashed out of second position, crashing out at turn three after losing the front on entry. So disappointing for Ducati, with Acosta promoted to second and Martin promoted to third on lap 16.

If the chequered flag were to come out right now, Bezzecchi would continue to lead the championship by 18 points over teammate Jorge Martin. However, the race is not over yet, with just under half the race distance remaining.

Ai Ogura has been super impressive over the last few laps, passing Joan Mir and Fabio Quartararo. The Trackhouse star is currently P6, now setting sights on Di Giannantonio, who has also dropped back from Martin. It’s remaining to be a super competitive race with a few riders clearly making a tyre gamble.

While things continue to heat up on track, have a look at how things started 12 laps ago.

Diogo Moreira has crashed out on lap 11, ending his weekend early after running inside the points. Luckily, the MotoGP rookie looks okay and walks away from the incident in the gravel trap.

Bagnaia is slowly bringing down the lead and has closed the gap to Bezzecchi in the past few laps. The No. 72 has now responded, matching the pace to remain at sixth-tenths of a second. Keep your eyes on the clouds too, as things are beginning to look a little darker…

Meanwhile, Martin and Di Giannantonio are putting on an epic show for the French fans, scrapping in the opening laps for P4. There’s a big group behind them, which includes Quartararo, Mir, Ogura, Bastianini and more.

Fabio Quartararo sits as the top French rider currently, running in sixth position after a brave start. The Yamaha rider has dropped a few positions over the last couple of laps, with Ai Ogura trying to attack behind.

Meanwhile, Johann Zarco sits in P13, with a lot of work to do if the No. 5 wants to repeat similar success to last year.
