Marc Marquez display 'flawless' after 'absolutely perfect' Germany MotoGP double at Sachsenring

TNT Sports expert Neil Hodgson praised Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez for a sterling performance at Grand Prix Germany, where the 33-year-old Spanish world champion delivered a weekend double to move him into world title contention.

The 33-year-old 2025 MotoGP world champion brought up his 102nd win across MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, and it is his 10th win in MotoGP in full-length races at Sachsenring.
Marquez has now moved up to third place in the race for the title, behind Trackhouses’s Ai Ogura in second, and Aprilia’s table-topper Jorge Martin.
It also completed a 37-point haul for him after he won Saturday’s Sprint race, also at a canter.
Speaking on TNT Sports as Marquez completed victory, Hodgson said: ”Flawless. It's been absolutely perfect. It's his track, he's favourite to win but you still have to do it. Not put a wheel wrong.
”Got a great start, aggressive early on. And it's going to be 37 points on the weekend - it is a perfect weekend.”
Martin finishes the weekend on 208 points, with Ogura on 194. Marquez has 190, meaning his 102-point deficit earlier in the season has been narrowed to just 18.

Hodgson praised the way that Marquez had gone about his business, adding: ”Pole position in an old school way. Three-stop strategy, swapped bikes in qualifying, smashes the record. Wins the Sprint and just walks to the win here.”
As Marquez approached the crowd, Hodgson continued: ”He's had a few in his career. Grand Prix win 102, is that? There’s still more to come. He goes very well at Aragon. I expect him to win there.
”I definitely don't expect him to win at Silverstone though. I think it'll be a championship win for him. Get the most out of it. If he can get two podiums, he'll be very happy with that.”
The season is now at the halfway point, with a month to go until Grand Prix Britain at Silverstone.
Hodgson reflected on his own career and advised the current crop of riders to take some time off to heal after a host of riders have suffered heavy crashes and gone through surgery, most recently Marco Bezzecchi.

‘Let your body rest’ - Hodgson urges riders to enjoy break
”This is the summer break," Hodgson commented. "This is a period now of resetting, resting if you're Marco Bezzecchi especially after having his collarbone operated on today.
”You can afford to take time off, let your body rest and then attack the gym.
”Most riders overtrain, obsess. When you've three weekends off, if you can let yourself have a week off to do nothing, let your body have that little moment.
”So important. Once we get to Aragon, after Silverstone, it's a run-in until the end of the season. They come thick and fast.”
