EASY PREY FOR TIGERS
Joaquin Moro scored two tries as the Leicester Tigers eased to a bonus-point victory over Newcastle Red Bulls at Kingston Park.
New Zealander James Thompson bundled over for the first try, but after James Hassell-Collins was given a harsh-looking yellow card for head contact, Ethan Grayson took a fine pass from Brett Connon to bring the scores within three points.
Unfortunately this was to last just two minutes as Moro burst through the line on the 22 to extend the lead once more.
The game became a scrappy one in the middle stages before Freddie Steward’s score settled the match before the hour mark, but the Argentine number eight Moro once again powered onto a ball from a breakdown and touched down to secure the bonus-point try.
There were tries at either end for Richard Palframan and Tommy Reffell in time added on, as Leicester comfortably secured a win to take themselves up to fourth place, for the time being at least.
Elsewhere at Sale, Exeter recovered from a 13-point half-time deficit to win 27-26 to top the table ahead of the weekend's other matches.
