Bai Yulu sinks Mink Nutcharut in Women's World Championship snooker final for second straight year to emulate Zhao Xintong's heroics

Defending champion Bai Yulu was victorious at the 42nd Women's World Snooker Championship for the second straight year courtesy of a 6-4 win over former winner Mink Nutcharut in the Chinese city of Dongguan. After edging Mink 6-5 in last year's final, 21-year-old top seed Bai hit back from trailing 3-1 and 4-2 to reel off four straight frames for victory before a delighted home crowd.

Bai Yulu claimed her second straight women's world title with a 6-4 win over Mink Nutcharut – a year after edging the 2022 winner in a final-frame decider to claim her maiden crown.
Thailand's Mink led 3-1 and 4-2 with a top break of 54, but Bai showed her class to reel off four straight frames, boosted by a 61 break in the ninth.
She then held her nerve to slot the final pink in the 10th frame for victory.
The 21-year-old becomes only the seventh player in history to lift the trophy more than once and the first since Hong Kong's Ng On-yee managed the feat seven years ago.
Reanne Evans (12), Allison Fisher (7), Kelly Fisher (5), Karen Corr (3), Ng (3) and Vera Selby (2) are the only other players to lift the trophy as a multiple winner since the event was first staged in Middlesbrough in 1976.
Mink claimed the trophy with a 6-5 victory over Wendy Jans three years ago, but has lost three times in the final since 2019, with Bai following up a 6-3 defeat to Baipat Siripaporn in Bangkok in 2023 with back-to-back successes.
Following Zhao Xintong's 18-12 win over Mark Williams in the Crucible final in Sheffield earlier this month, it means China now have both a men's and women's world champion on the green baize.
On Monday, Bai completed a 5-0 semi-final whitewash win against fellow home hope Xia Yuying - who defeated 12-time winner Reanne Evans 4-1 in the last 16 -after world No. 1 Mink enjoyed a 5-1 win over Baipat.
