Snooker in its crudest form is about getting balls in pockets. Wu Yize almost had to do it twice in his win over Xiao Guodong in the semi-finals of the Scottish Open.
With the ninth frame long since in the bag, and a century chalked off, Wu set about pleasing the fans at the Meadowbank Sports Centre.
As Neal Foulds said on commentary for Eurosport: "He’s just trying to hit the balls as hard as he can."
The brown was one such ball, as Wu threw his cue through the white and the object ball went exactly as intended into the heart of the green pocket. But the green pocket seemed to be unhappy about how hard it arrived as it threw it up in the air before accepting it.
"That went in, came back out of the pocket and went in again," Foulds said. "I am not sure how you do that."
Foulds' partner in the commentary box, David Hendon, added: "He sort of bullied it into the pocket."
After seeing Wu knock in blue and pink in exhibition fashion, Foulds said: "That is fantastic. What a player."
