Kyren Wilson opens up on 'salty' interview after Shaun Murphy defeat in Masters final - 'What he did was uncalled for'

Plenty of eyebrows were raised when Kyren Wilson made some provacative claims in the wake of his Masters final defeat to Shaun Murphy in January. But the world champion, in an exclusive interview with TNT Sports, has now provided more context to his post-match comments. Kyren Wilson has addressed his comments after defeat to Shaun Murphy in January's Masters final, insisting his opponent's actions were "uncalled for".
Wilson called Murphy an "old man" and claimed he "needed the win more" following the match at Alexandra Palace.
But 'The Warrior' has now revealed the post-match comments were not unprovoked.
"I think, if people knew the story, people would understand and probably actually applaud me almost for what went on in that final," he told TNT Sports.
"Shaun knows full well what happened before the evening session of the Masters final.
"I don't want to bad mouth anyone, but what he did before the evening session was uncalled for and quite unprofessional.

"There might have been a few [salty comments]. We live and learn. I disagree with something that Shaun did during that final, but I'm not taking anything away from him.
"He played so well during that week. He was really classy."
World champion Wilson has also formed a competitive rivalry with world No. 1 Judd Trump.
Their head-to-head record stands at 19-16 in favour of Trump, but Wilson has had the edge in recent times, beating Trump in Xi’an, Belfast and Telford to win titles.
"He's a great player and you've got to play well to beat him," Wilson said "Over the past couple of years he's been far ahead of everyone else really, in terms of how many tournaments he's won.
"This season, again, another really consistent campaign. It makes my job quite easy, I've got to play well again."

Wilson added that his many hard-fought battles with Trump have helped him improve.
"I think it's great for us as individuals as well," he said. "I'd like to think I spur him on to try and be better and win more, and he certainly does that for me.
"If you use it in the right way, it can be great for snooker and for your development as a player and a champion. I like to think I've done that."
