Only the top 12 players in the one-year rankings have earned a place at the tournament, with the top four seeds going straight into the quarter-finals. The build-up to the Crucible gathers full speed, with focus now shifting to the 2025 Tour Championship.
It is the 17th and penultimate ranking event of the season ahead of the showpiece World Championship in Sheffield.
Mark Williams heads into the competition as defending champion, after an epic 10-5 win over Ronnie O'Sullivan in last year's final.
A host of big names will be heading to the baize in Manchester, including reigning world champion Kyren Wilson and current Masters title-holder Shaun Murphy.
Current world No. 1 Judd Trump enters the competition at the quarter-final stage, while Mark Selby is also in action as part of a star-studded line-up.
This is viewed as an ideal warm-up ahead of the Crucible due to the long-form matches, all of which are best-of-19 frames.
