‘Remarkable’ Judd Trump makes history at World Grand Prix in whitewash win to continue quest for £100,000 jackpot

Judd Trump is on a roll at the World Grand Prix after following up his 4-0 triumph over Jack Lisowski with a 5-0 demolition of Hossein Vafaei. The Ace in the Pack wrapped up the win in style, producing an incredible 146 to make it 5-0. The break was also his 84th of the season in his quest for £100,000 for 100 centuries and was the highest in the history of the World Grand Prix.

Judd Trump produced the highest break ever at the World Grand Prix with a stunning 146 in his 5-0 victory over Hossein Vafaei.

It was the first 146 of the 35-year-old's career, capping off a superb performance that saw Trump book his place in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The break was also the 84th in his quest for £100,000, awarded if a player racks up 100 centuries this season.

Trump was 4-0 up thanks to breaks of 145, 108 and 115, but the best was yet to come as he came within a whisker of a maximum during the final frame in Hong Kong.

TNT Sports commentator David Hendon was full of praise for the Brit after he wrapped up the win in style.

"A 146, the highest-ever break in the World Grand Prix," said Hendon.

"It completes a remarkable performance from Judd Trump in his 100th ranking event quarter-final, he has been simply sensational.

"Breaks of 145, 108, 115 and 146, he beats Hossein Vafaei 5-0, what a performance that was.

"You can't really play much better than that. I suppose he could have five centuries, but a 145 and a 146."

Trump reached the quarter-finals of the tournament with a 4-0 triumph over Jack Lisowski in the previous round.
