Tai Woffinden's wife Faye thanks fans for support after speedway star placed into medically induced coma

Faye Woffinden said she is “deeply grateful” for the support after her husband Tai was placed into a medically induced coma following a major crash. Three-time speedway world champion Woffinden collided with his team-mate in Krosno, Poland, and suffered multiple fractures and a chest injury. He was transported to a nearby hospital to undergo surgery where he remains in intensive care.

Faye Woffinden has thanked fans for their support after her husband and British speedway star Tai Woffinden was involved in a major crash in Krosno on Sunday.
Rzesow rider Woffinden, who is a three-time speedway world champion, collided with a team-mate before being taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
According to a club statement, Woffinden underwent surgery after suffering multiple fractures and an injury to his chest.
The 34-year-old is now in a medically induced coma, with his wife taking to social media to express her gratitude for the love and well wishes that have flooded in.
"Right now, our hearts are heavy, and we are taking things one moment at a time," Faye posted on Instagram. "Please know how deeply grateful we are for your patience, your love, and your support – it truly means the world to us. In the midst of this incredibly difficult time, your support reminds us that we are not facing this alone.
"However, we are still processing everything and need a little more time to understand where things stand before sharing any further updates.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding more than we can say. We will share more when we are able. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Woffinden, who hails from Scunthorpe, is one of Britain’s most successful speedway racers, claiming world titles in 2013, 2015 and 2018.
He is also the only rider in history to hold the British and world titles at the same time and boasts runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2020 and a team championship win in 2021.
Speedway outfit Wolverhampton Wolves, a team Woffinden previously rode for, posted on social media: "Wishing our Wolf World Champion, Tai Woffinden, a full and speedy recovery.
"Your strength, determination, and spirit continue to inspire us all - we’re right behind you every step of the way.
"Stay strong, Tai."
The British Speedway Network also sent their "thoughts and prayers" to Woffinden.
