Alcaraz leads the head-to-head record 5-0 against the Australian and won their most recent meeting at the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals in straight sets.

"I’m going to go out there, I’m going to compete, I’m going to go after the match, I’m excited for the battle," said De Minaur.

"Ultimately, it’s something that I have never done, but, you know, there is always a first time for everything. I’m hoping that will be on Tuesday."

Gauff plays the first match of the night session against 12th seed Elina Svitolina.

Third seed Gauff leads the head-to-head record 2-1 against Svitolina, who is playing in her fourth Australian Open quarter-final.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka takes on 18-year-old Iva Jovic in the first match of the day on Rod Laver Arena.

Jovic had not previously made it past the second round of a Grand Slam but is looking forward to testing herself against "the best" in Sabalenka.

"I think I'm just going to try to keep taking care of my side of the net," she said.

"Obviously, she's No. 1 for a reason and has had so much success at this tournament, but that's what I want. I said last year that I hoped to be able to play here this year, because you definitely want to play the best and see how it goes. I'm really excited."

Men’s third seed Alexander Zverev takes on 25th seed Learner Tien in the other quarter-final clash.

Tien impressed in the fourth round as he beat Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

When is Alcaraz v De Minaur?

Alcaraz faces De Minaur in the last match of the day on Rod Laver Arena.

The contest will likely start at around 10:00 UK time.

Alcaraz, 22, is aiming to become the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.

When do Sabalenka and Gauff play?

World No. 1 Sabalenka starts proceedings on Rod Laver Arena from 00:30 UK time.

Sabalenka won the Grand Slam in 2023 and 2024, and was beaten in the final last year by Madison Keys.

Gauff v Svitolina opens the night session at 8:00 UK time.

How hot is it expected to be at the Australian Open?

Maximum temperatures of 45c have been forecast for Melbourne on Tuesday, which would near the city's all-time record of 46.4c.

Play was suspended on Saturday as the Extreme Heat Policy came into effect with the temperature around 40c.

Matches also started earlier in the day in a bid to avoid some of the heat.
