Novak Djokovic stunned reigning champion Jannik Sinner in a five-set thriller to make it to the Australian Open final for the 11th time, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.
The 38-year-old Serbian superstar rolled back the years to edge past Sinner 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 in four hours and nine minutes, with the match concluding just after 1.30am local time.
And in doing so he will contest his 38th career Grand Slam final - his first since Wimbledon 2024 - and has the chance to win an elusive and unprecedented 25th Grand Slam title.
Standing in his way is Alcaraz, who won an epic of his own against Alexander Zverev to keep him on course to win his maiden Australian Open crown.
The 22-year-old Spaniard battled back from cramp and injury to beat his German counterpart 6-4 7-6 (5) 6-7 (7) 6-7 (7) 7-5 in a match that lasted five hours and 27 minutes.

What has Djokovic said ahead of the Australian Open final
Speaking in his on court interview after beating Sinner, Djokovic said: "I watched [Alcaraz v Zverev], what an incredible match. We tried to match that intensity. I think you guys got your value for money on the tickets, that’s for sure. I want 10% from tonight’s tickets sold.
"I saw Carlos [Alcaraz] after the match, he said sorry for delaying the start of our match. I told him I am an old man and I need to go to sleep early!
"I am looking forward to seeing him in a few days.
"I know I have to come back in a few days and fight the No. 1. I just hope I have enough gas to stay toe-to-toe with him. Let god decide the winner."
