The Serbian won his 24th Grand Slam tournament at the 2023 US Open but has fallen short since, with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner sharing the subsequent nine majors.

Defending champion Alcaraz will be absent from Roland-Garros with a wrist injury, giving Djokovic a boost in his hopes of ending the dominant duo's Grand Slam grip.

The three-time champion kicks off his campaign against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France in Sunday's final game on Philippe-Chatrier.

Raducanu 'pulls out' of US Open due to stress fracture

Second seed Alexander Zverev begins his tournament in the second match on Philippe-Chatrier, taking on another Frenchman, Benjamin Bonzi.

Meanwhile, seventh seed Taylor Fritz is in action on Court Suzanne-Lenglen on Sunday afternoon and the American is up against compatriot Nishesh Basavareddy.

The highest female seed playing on Sunday is world No. 7 Mirra Andreeva, who faces Fiona Ferro of France on Philippe-Chatrier.

Emma Raducanu, who was knocked out by Iga Swiatek in the second round last season, gets underway on Court 13, taking on world No. 64 Solana Sierra.

The British No. 1 has reunited with Andrew Richardson, who coached her to her US Open triumph in 2021.

When do Sinner and Sabalenka play?

Jannik Sinner is the heavy favourite to lift the men's title this year in the absence of Alcaraz, who has won the past two Grand Slam tournaments.

Sinner, whose last major triumph came at Wimbledon last summer, is in sensational form, with his Italian Open triumph last time out coming after successive wins at Indian Wells, the Miami Open, the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Madrid Open.

The world No.1, who is yet to taste glory at Roland-Garros, begins his French Open campaign on Monday, facing Frenchman Clement Tabur.

Fellow world No. 1 and four-time major winner Aryna Sabalenka is also targeting a first title at Roland Garros, having lost out in the final in 2025 against Coco Gauff.

The 28-year-old started this season strongly, reaching the final at the Australian Open and claiming back-to-back titles in March at Indian Wells and Miami.

However, she has been less effective so far on clay, losing in the quarter-finals in Madrid and in the third round in Rome, but she will be hopeful of a winning start in Paris when she faces Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain on Monday.

When does Norrie play?

British No. 1 Cameron Norrie also gets his campaign underway on Monday, facing Adolfo Vallejo of Paraguay.

The 30-year-old, who is the 20th seed at the tournament, enjoyed his best French Open in 2025, reaching the fourth round, where he lost to Djokovic.

After a promising start to the clay swing, reaching the quarter-finals in Barcelona and the fourth round in Madrid, Norrie has had a concerning dip in the build-up to Roland-Garros, losing his opening games in Rome and Geneva.
