City have won their first Women’s Super League title for 10 years, finishing four points clear of Arsenal.

They have a chance to clinch a double when they play Brighton & Hove Albion in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday – live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

Jeglertz’s team have shown an unrelenting consistency domestically, with the Swede becoming only the second head coach to win the WSL title in his debut season.

TNT Sports football expert Lucy Ward believes that he is the perfect man to lead the club to further honours, giving them extra bite to their free-flowing, possession-based style of play.

"I'm really impressed with the new manager Andree Jeglertz,” she told The Breakdown.

"I think the way he's got them playing is quite refreshing and I think they needed that for a few seasons.

"They've got an elite squad and I think at times you don't have a manager that's as elite as the players. I think he is that."

The Lionesses’ all-time record goalscorer Ellen White hailed the importance of implementing that winning mentality, adding: "He's a proven winner and I feel that's what Man City needed.

"That mentality shift has been huge this season. I think we've seen Man City playing really beautiful, possession-based football.

"They've got an array of amazingly talented players but it's putting that all together to have a consistent run and then to go for the title.

"They've managed to dig in and find a way to win football games and I feel that's been different this season.

"They just have a bit more freedom, there are more smiles on the faces of the players and they're able to have a bit more fluidity. I feel like he's really installed that."

Those sentiments were echoed by England’s all-time record cap holder Fara Williams, who explained how Jeglertz has helped to implement fresh impetus into a potent City frontline spearheaded by Bunny Shaw.

"Manchester City are a team you just want to be a part of because they keep the ball well but the purpose and intent in their play had been lacking," Williams said.

"Now, you see that the front three are interchanging positions and it's really added to their attacking play.

"That was already good before this season but they didn't have that cutting edge to win those championships."

City’s opponents on Sunday will be a Brighton side embarking on the club's first Women's FA Cup final appearance, under the coaching of Dario Vidosic.

The Australian is one win away from claiming the club’s first major trophy at men’s or women’s level and White highlighted how The Seagulls are starting to get their just rewards after some diligent planning and investment.

"There’s support and backing from the whole organisation - both the men's and women's teams collectively. The standards, the training ground and the players getting what they deserve and being well-supported," she added.

"You also have to look at the investment and also the way in which they hand-pick the players they want to be part of that organisation. It helps that they obviously have a very good manager as well."

Ward also explained how the tactical expertise of Vidosic is taking the team to new heights and revealed the high praise Fran Kirby uttered in a conversation the pair had when discussing his coaching attributes.

"Another brilliant example of a coach who's very tactically astute," Ward continued.

"I've had a conversation with Fran Kirby, who actually told me that he was the best tactical coach she's ever worked with. That's saying something.

"The value added of a coach with that tactical nous is more appreciated within the women's game because we don't have those sorts of coaches.

"They have gameplans where they do different things for the first 15 minutes and then they change what they do afterwards. The players buy into it because he sees what is going to happen.

"All that works well with the data-driven recruitment, the fact they feel supported and now they've got a manager who they can look at and think: 'We're here because of us [as players], but also because of how he sets us up."
