Tottenham and Aston Villa scored 10 goals between them as Villa were crushed 7-3 in the Women's Super League on Sunday. Elsewhere, Manchester United came from behind to defeat London City Lionesses 2-1, Chelsea got a 2-0 victory over struggling Liverpool, Everton won 1-0 against West Ham, while Brighton's match at home to Arsenal was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Women's Super League delivered mouthwatering action on Sunday with Manchester United coming from behind to claim three points, while Tottenham Hotspur crushed Aston Villa in a 10-goal thriller.

Elsewhere, Chelsea got back on track with a victory over Liverpool, while Everton edged out West Ham United.

The biggest story of the day was at Villa Park, where Spurs conceded three yet still won by four.

Signe Gaupset gave the visitors the lead after just 10 minutes, with Villa equalising six minutes later through Kirsty Hanson.

Bethany England then scored a deflected effort, and Olivia Holdt added another to make it 3-1 to Spurs.

And the ante was upped in the second half as Oriane Jean-Francois made it 3-2 on 68 minutes and there was still time for the ball to find the back of the net five more times.

Just seconds later, Cathinka Tandberg got her first to put the visitors 4-2 ahead before Maika Hamano made it five. Hanson doubled her personal tally and gave Villa some hope at 5-3 down but Tandberg's second with eight minutes remaining killed any hopes of a comeback, while Julie Blakstad netted her side's seventh of the game to cap a thriller.

Manchester United kept their ever-so-slim chances of challenging neighbours Manchester City for the title with a come-from-behind victory over London City Lionesses.

Millie Turner scored the winner 11 minutes from full-time as she headed in a free-kick assist from Maya Le Tissier.

Nikita Parris scored for the away side in the first five minutes, coming back to haunt her former club, before Jess Park cut in from the left and fizzed in a shot to the bottom corner for an equaliser in the first half.

United sit second, eight points behind City, with The Lionesses sixth on 19 points.

Reigning champions Chelsea recorded consecutive wins after a victory over Liverpool, with goals coming from Sjoeke Nusken and Lauren James.

Nusken opened the scoring on 41 minutes with an easy finish as she converted a James cross, before the latter got a goal of her own on 65 minutes.

The England international received the ball from Veerle Buurman, escaped the attention of Fuka Nagano, and powered home a strike inside the near post.

Three points for Chelsea keep them in third place, a point behind United, while Liverpool have just 10 points - one clear of bottom-placed Leicester City, who have a game in hand.

Everton’s Honoka Hayashi inflicted defeat on former side West Ham, with The Toffees earning their third consecutive league win.

The Japan midfielder scored with a tap-in at the back post to convert Hannah Blundell’s assist on eight minutes.

West Ham were in the running for much of the match but were unable to grab a goal as they pushed for a leveller throughout, with Courtney Brosnan standing firm in goal for the home side.

Everton are in eighth on 17 points, with West Ham 10th with 11 points.

Brighton & Hove Albion had been expected to host Arsenal at their Broadfield Stadium venue, but the match will have to be rearranged after a waterlogged pitch caused the contest to be postponed.

A statement from the club read: "After an inspection by the referee following the removal of pitch protection covers, today's WSL game against Arsenal at the Broadfield Stadium has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch."

Brighton are seventh with 17 points, and Arsenal are fourth on 29 points. They have two games in hand on Chelsea above them, and would go second if they win them both.
