Europa League play-off draw: Nottingham Forest face Fenerbahce while Celtic meet Stuttgart, sides could meet in quarter-finals

Nottingham Forest will face Turkish side Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League play-off. Forests secured their play-off place with a thumping 4-0 win over previously unbeaten side Ferencvaros. Meanwhile, Scottish champions Celtic, will meet Stuttgart after they too secured a play-off place thanks to a 4-2 win over Dutch side Utrecht. The two sides could meet in the quarter-finals.

Nottingham Forest will face Turkish side Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League play-off, while Celtic will meet German opposition in Stuttgart.

Forest secured their play-off spot with a 4-0 win over Ferencvaros at the City Ground, with Igor Jesus netting two goals.

Celtic also relied upon a win in matchweek eight to guarantee a play-off berth and secured their place with a 4-2 win over Utrecht.

The two British sides find themselves on the orange side of the draw, which means they could meet in the quarter-finals, should they reach that point.

Should Forest advance past Fenerbahce, they will meet Real Betis or FC Midtjylland, while Celtic are guaranteed to play Portuguese opposition if they beat Stuttgart, in the form of Braga or FC Porto.

Elsewhere, Belgian side Genk face Dinamo Zagreb, while Bologna will meet Norwegian side SK Brann.

Forest's opponents on the final match day of the league phase, Ferencvaros meet Ludogorets, while Viktoria Plzen will face Panathinaikos.

Spaniards Celta Vigo, fresh from their 1-1 draw in Belgrade, meet PAOK, while Red Star Belgrade will face Lille, after they beat Freiburg 1-0.

While the remaining eight teams - Lyon, Aston Villa, Midtjylland, Betis, Braga, Porto, Freiburg and Roma do not yet know exactly who they play, they do know the four teams they could face, making which side of the draw they are on more important.

Lyon and Villa will face PAOK, Celta, Red Star Belgrade or Lille, while Betis and Midtjylland will play Forest, Fenerbahce, Viktoria Plzen or Panathinaikos.

Portuguese sides Porto and Braga will meet either Celtic, Stuttgart, Ferencvaros or Ludogorets and Freiburg or Roma will meet either Brann, Bologna, Dinamo Zagreb or Genk.
