"We need to survive Sunday," said Amorim. "The team was so tired in the last 30 minutes [against Sociedad]. We have to prepare [for] Sunday and then think about this important game for us.

"In this moment, I don't know [about Maguire and Ugarte]."

Amorim added that a spate of injured players are set to return before the season’s end.

"I think it is just Amad [who was ruled out until the end of the season]. Even Amad, we will see the end of the last month [of the season]. I have the hope to have Amad before, but we will see.

"Kobbie [Mainoo] can return [before the season ends]. [Harry] Maguire, we have to be careful of, Manuel [Ugarte] will return, and I think Mason [Mount] and Luke Shaw can return also."

Ake out for 10 weeks after ‘serious’ injury

Manchester City travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest on Saturday lunchtime, with coverage of the clash live on TNT Sports and discovery+ from 11:00 UK time.

Ahead of the fixture, City boss Pep Guardiola revealed defender Nathan Ake has had foot surgery.

Guardiola admitted: "10-11 weeks they said to me [to be out]. When you have surgery it’s serious. He has struggled a lot this season with the problems in his feet."

Moyes reveals Coleman on cusp of Everton return

David Moyes revealed Seamus Coleman, who has only featured four times this season due to injury, is on the cusp of an Everton return against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the game live on TNT Sports and discovery+ from 19:00 UK time on Saturday.

"We took all the players [on the camp]," said Moyes. "It was good that Seamus Coleman, [Armando] Broja, [Youssef] Chermiti are all getting themselves closer to playing again.

"Seamus is much nearer. Whether he's ready to be involved [at Wolves] I'm not quite sure yet.

"He's training and we're obviously trying not to get him re-injured so we're giving him every opportunity to ensure he's fine."

The Everton boss added that loanee Armando Broja could return to the squad early next month after suffering an ankle ligament injury back in January.

"He's training, he's joined in a little bit," added Moyes. "He's not fully right yet. I would say that after the international break would probably be the right time.

"There's an outside chance that maybe he could be fit for next week. But at the moment, I can only follow the medical team. If I was guessing, I'd probably say it looks more likely after the international break."

Isak ‘on track’ to make Carabao Cup final

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe believes Alexander Isak is firmly on track to play against West Ham United as well as in next week’s Carabao Cup final clash with Liverpool.

The Sweden international was a surprise absentee in a 2-0 Premier League defeat at Anfield due to a groin issue. He made a return against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup last week, only to be withdrawn late on.

Ahead of Monday night’s trip to West Ham, Howe told reporters: "[Isak’s] fine. He came off [on Sunday] feeling fatigued, a tightness in his body. But he's trained every day this week."

Elsewhere, Howe confirmed reports that Sven Botman is set to undergo knee surgery, and spoke on Lewis Hall’s issue, with the full-back ruled out for the season.

"Sven, we have been trying to get him back to full fitness. He was very close to the Brighton game but the day before he felt something again in his knee," Howe said. "This week he has had the same discomfort so it looks like he will have to have an operation.

"He needs a small operation to clear out some fluid and then he should be fine again. We hope he should be back in about eight weeks."

On Hall, he added: "Really disappointed for Lewis, we are devastated for him. He had so much to look forward to. He had the cup final and then internationals coming up. He was in really good form. It is a big blow for him and for us."

Gakpo ‘a close call’ for Southampton game

Liverpool are without Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Tyler Morton ahead of their encounter with bottom-side Southampton.

Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo, who missed their mid-week Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain because of a knock, is a doubt for the trip at the weekend.

"He didn't train yesterday," Slot admitted. "Let's see if he can train today. A close call, not a long-term one, but he had some pain yesterday. Let's see where he is today."

He added: "If you think injuries are a part of luck or bad luck then we have been lucky, but we believe that we can prevent them through working. So that is not luck for us that we don't have many injuries, top pros stay fit and we have great facilities and staff.

"If we can continue this for years then it is probably quality. Although you cannot go through a season in this country without injuries, Alisson [Becker] weeks, [Diogo] Jota 4 months, Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Bradley, Gomez is out now for three months, so you cannot do it. It is the amount of injuries you try to prevent."

'Too early’ to make Solanke assessment

Ange Postecoglou admitted it was too early to make a proper assessment of Dominic Solanke’s fitness, after the Tottenham Hotspur striker picked up an injury against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.

The England forward made his comeback after seven weeks out with a knee injury as a second-half substitute, only to be replaced in stoppage time after landing heavily from an aerial challenge.

"It’s too early to tell," Postecoglou said. "With Dom, it was [a] big [impact from] the knee into the back-side. He's probably a bit sore, but it’s a knock. So hopefully it settles down quickly."

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could return from injury this weekend against Bournemouth, despite neither coming off the bench in the UEFA Europa League.

"They have a chance," Postecoglou said. "To be honest, when I saw the pitch the night before I pretty much made up my mind I wasn't going to risk them last night. It wasn't a great pitch, it was steady under foot and was a game where I didn't need to expose them.

"A couple of extra days of fitness, training and recovery, hopefully both will be in line to feature."

On Ben Davies’ involvement, the Australian added: "I'm not sure. He's actually training at the moment, so we'll see.

"He's definitely progressed and he feels good. Let's see how we go over the next 24/48 hours. He's a chance, but we'll see how he goes."

Chelsea’s Fofana and Badiashile ‘available’ against Leicester

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca revealed that defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are both available to face Leicester City, while Malo Gusto may also recover in time for the Sunday encounter.

Maresca said: "Wes [Fofana] is training with us for more than 10 days, so he's back.

"Benoit is back as well, and Romeo [Lavia] has also started to work with us. This is good news but we have to be patient with him, because he is still quite far away from being 100% fit and ready.

"But he is starting to work with us again and this is good news. The rest are the same as before, there is no update on those players – Nicolas [Jackson], Noni [Madueke], Marc [Guiu] and Aaron [Anselmino] - they are all out still.

"Nico has started to do some running outside, which is good, but I don’t think there is any change with his status. We are still looking at after the international break for him [before returning]."
