Viktor Gyokeres said Arsenal "never stopped believing" in their title chances after The Gunners took a big step towards claiming the Premier League crown by beating Fulham.

The Gunners comfortably dispatched Fulham 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to two goals from Gyokeres and another from Bukayo Saka.

The impressive victory puts Arsenal six points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, with City set to play Everton on Monday night.

And following one of his most emphatic displays in an Arsenal shirt, Gyokeres insisted that the players' mentality was key to piling the pressure on City.

"I think both the performance and result was important. We controlled the game very well," the 27-year-old told Sky Sports. "At this stage we have to win the games that are left, and we showed today we can have a good performance and get the three points.

"We've never stopped believing, and we're not going to. We will keep going. There's still a lot to play for and it's onto the next one. It's been a good week. We've got some good results. We're on a good path and we have to stay there."

Gyokeres had given Arsenal the lead early on against Fulham, tapping home from close range after an accurate cross from Saka.

For Arsenal's second, Gyokeres turned provider, supplying a perfectly timed pass to allow Saka to run through and double the home side's lead.

And on the stroke of half-time, Gyokeres headed home a Leandro Trossard cross to complete an enjoyable afternoon for all of an Arsenal persuasion.

Gyokeres has now scored 21 goals in his first season with Arsenal, and became the second Gunners player to score 20 or more goals in all competitions in his debut season this century, joining Alexis Sanchez in 2014/15.

There was another moment of history as Saka became the fourth-youngest player to start 200 Premier League games, behind Gareth Barry, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.

Arsenal's win further puts them in the driver's seat in a thrilling Premier League title race, with City holding two games in hand over Mikel Arterta's team.

For Myles Lewis-Skelly, who played in midfield for the first time this season, Arsenal have "three finals left now."

"Every day we try to stay in the moment as a team and take every game as it comes," the 19-year-old told Sky Sports.

"We go into every game wanting to play with that intensity and joy and if we play like that when we take care of that, our quality will shine through and today was a great example of that.

"Game two done. Another three to go. We won the most games in the history of this club in a whole season and it's not finished.

"We have a lot of rhythm. We are used to playing every three days and we will play one of the biggest games in the history of this stadium."

Arsenal's attention will now turn to their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid, with their second leg taking place on Tuesday at the Emirates and the scores level at 1-1.
