Mohamed Salah has returned to the Liverpool squad ahead of the Premier League clash with Brighton this weekend.

Salah was left at home for Liverpool’s 1-0 win away to Inter in the UEFA Champions League after he openly complained about "being thrown under the bus" following the 3-3 draw with Leeds.

Significant reaction followed from pundits around the globe as to what should happen next to the Egyptian, with Arne Slot himself saying in a press conference that he would hold face-to-face talks with his star forward ahead of the match with Brighton.

Various news outlets are now reporting that Salah will return to the Liverpool squad for the match against The Seagulls at Anfield on Saturday.

Salah scored 29 Premier League goals and registered 18 assists last season as Liverpool went on to win the title in Slot’s first season.

That form saw the 33-year-old rewarded with a new two-year deal after speculation about whether he would stay or leave with his contract coming to an end.

But this season, Salah and Liverpool have failed to live up to last year’s standards. The Reds are currently sitting in 10th in the Premier League table after losing six of their first 15 matches, while Salah himself has just four goals and two assists to his name in his 13 appearances.

The slump in form saw Slot drop Salah to the bench, and the Egyptian, who is the club's all-time leading goalscorer, has been an unused substitute in two of Liverpool's last three Premier League matches.

He last started a match in the 4-1 defeat in the Champions League by PSV on November 26.

Speaking at the press conference today, Slot said: "I have no reasons not to want him to stay. I will have a conversation with Mo.

"The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look [on Saturday]."

It appears that Salah will at least return to the bench as Liverpool welcome Brighton, in a game of huge significance given their poor run of domestic form both home and away.

If he does feature, it will be his last involvement in 2025, before he heads to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, which could keep him out of Liverpool action until January 18 should they go all the way to the final.

After Salah’s comments and subsequent snub from the Inter match, it was thought he may have played his final game for the club, with Slot confirming he was part of the team who opted not to select him in Milan.

"We decided as a club - and I was part of that decision - not to take him to Milan," said Slot.

"I am always in contact with them [sporting director Richard Hughes and chief executive Michael Edwards] but when it comes to the decision-making of the line-up or the squad, they leave that open to me."
