Moises Caicedo says he is ”convinced” Chelsea will soon be competing with the best again despite their recent Premier League struggles.

The Blues have had a turbulent few months, sacking head coach Liam Rosenior in April amid a losing run.

Their defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday under interim head coach Calum McFarlane was their sixth straight league defeat.

It is the first time Chelsea have lost six league games in a row since 1993.

But Caicedo, who signed a new long-term contract until 2033 in April, is confident Chelsea will bounce back.

"I believe that with this team, we can do a lot of things together," he told TNT Sports ahead of facing Liverpool on Saturday, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

"It made me sign a new contract here because I am convinced, although we are not in a very good moment, we will come back and put Chelsea where it belongs.

"I am so convinced I am not going to change, because the only way to do it is believing."

Chelsea’s poor run of form has seen them slip down to ninth in the Premier League.

It looks unlikely they will qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League and if their form doesn't improve, they could miss out on European football altogether.

One recent positive has been Romeo Lavia playing regularly, having suffered several injury setbacks since joining in 2023.

"He is so good," says Caicedo about his midfield partner.

"I am so happy to have him again because he helps a lot. He is magnificent with the ball so I am happy he is playing consistently and helping the team. For sure, he is going to do a lot of things.

"With the ball, he is so good under pressure. Playing with him when we are playing man to man, he is one of the best under pressure. It is so good to play with him."

Despite recent results, Chelsea still have plenty left to play for this season.

They could win the Emirates FA Cup as they face Manchester City in the final on May 16, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max, and face a fight to finish in the European spots in the Premier League.

Next up for the Blues is a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.

"They are a very tough opponent and it’s going to be a tough game," said Caicedo.

"We need everybody together. If we are together, then we can get points."

On the impact McFarlane has made since replacing Rosenior, Caicedo added: "He is trying to help us in every aspect. We are happy to keep working with him and everybody is going to work hard until the end of the season.

"He has been close to us, asking us what we want, how we want to play, that kind of thing helps you to improve and also you can perform better. He has been good in terms of that."

Since joining Chelsea in 2023, Caicedo has helped the club win the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Caicedo said when he signed his new contract that his "dream is to become a Chelsea legend."

Asked how he plans to earn legendary status with the fans, he said: "I want to show them 100 per cent in every game, I want to give everything to them because they deserve, at home and away they are supporting us and that’s important.

"I want to give everything to them. I need to keep working hard, doing everything for this club."
