Steven Gerrard has named his next favourite Premier League team after boyhood club Liverpool.
On a stadium tour of his former club for TNT Sports, Liverpool legend Gerrard made an admission he has never made before as he looked inside the unfamiliar away dressing room at Anfield.
"I'm surprised I'm welcome in here, to be honest," Gerrard joked.
"Not familiar territory to me, but obviously I came up against some incredible teams here at Anfield, and some incredible players over the years."
Gerrard picked The Magpies as the team, aside from his boyhood club, that he would want to win the Premier League title.
Speaking when Newcastle were in town to face Liverpool on January 31, Gerrard said: "It's quite fitting, actually, that we're in the Newcastle dressing room because, outside of Liverpool, if I wanted anyone to win the league it would be Newcastle.
"They’re my number two team in the Premier League. I’ve never, ever said that [before], but there you go. That’s live for you."
Newcastle last won the top flight in 1927, though the club mounted challenges for the Premier League title in the 1990s and 2000s when Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson were in charge of the team.

While he was still in the away dressing room, Gerrard was also asked which opposition players he would have liked to have had on his team.
"Oh, there's been many," said Gerrard. "I've got a long list for you, but obviously the two that speak for themselves would be [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and, and, you know, [Lionel] Messi, for sure.
"There's many of them, Alan Shearer, Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry - played against a lot of world-class players. Xavi, Busquets, how long you got? I'll be here all day."

After visiting the home dressing room, which he shared with so many big names during his long Liverpool career, Gerrard headed for the Kop, from which he had watched the team as a child.
"My first experience at Anfield was this part of the stadium," said Gerrard. "The noise and the passion and the feeling and the buzz gripped me from a really young age.
"I became a Liverpool fan because of my dad and my brother but when you go and you experience it, this place, especially the Kop, it grips you, and it grips you forever.
"And to be able to chase dreams and become a player here and win games in front of the Kop in Anfield and to score important goals, it's obviously shaped my life."
