With the possible exception of Martin Zubimendi, their 2025/26 summer signings did not have a game-changing impact on their starting XI.
However, they did provide the cover they so desperately lacked during the 2024/25 campaign, ensuring that when an injury crisis hit, they were ready.
Mikel Arteta does not appear to be resting on his laurels, with The Gunners already linked to some hot prospects and huge names ahead of the opening of the upcoming summer transfer window.
One of those names is Jeremy Monga, a highly-rated 16-year-old who plays for Leicester City.
The Foxes may have endured a difficult few seasons, having been relegated to League One last term, but in Monga, they have one of the most exciting young talents in England.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the prodigious winger, and find out what he could bring to the Premier League champions.

Monga’s route to the top
The forward joined Leicester Under-9s and has been writing his name in the record books ever since, becoming the youngest Premier League 2 goalscorer ever at the time of his goal against Aston Villa on November 1, 2024.
He followed that up by impressing for Leicester’s Under-18s and Development Squad, but he would not be with them for long.
Monga joined an illustrious list of young stars when he became the second-youngest player to make a Premier League appearance, though he has since been knocked into third place by Arsenal’s latest prospect, Max Dowman.
He was just 15 years, eight months and 28 days old when he came off the bench in a 3-0 defeat against Newcastle United on April 7, 2025.
He made his second Premier League appearance a month later against Liverpool, and despite Leicester’s relegation to the Championship, he has gone from strength to strength.

A breakout season
Leicester’s return to the Championship handed Monga even more opportunities to shine.
The 16-year-old ended the 2025/26 campaign with one goal and two assists in 30 appearances across all competitions, catching the eye despite another disastrous run of results for The Foxes.
His only goal came in a 2-1 defeat against Preston North End in August 2025, but he also attracted interest for his dribbling and ability to pick out the right pass.
Leicester’s season may have ended in relegation, but the only way appeared to be up for Monga.

Do Arsenal need him?
It goes without saying that Monga would be one for the future.
However, Arsenal already have an abundance of young talent, so the forward may find it difficult to break into the squad.
The youngest player ever to make a Premier League appearance, Ethan Nwaneri, is still on their books and, like Monga, can play in a variety of forward positions.
However, he struggled for minutes during their title-winning season, going on loan to Marseille in January, and is more than two years older than his compatriot.

Monga has also benefitted from being one of the stars of the show week in and week out in the Championship.
If he signs for Arsenal, it could be seen as the end of the road for Nwaneri, who is himself an outstanding young talent.
