Kai Havertz targets 'all the trophies' and aims for Arsenal to 'reach another level' ahead of Premier League title defence

Kai Havertz has challenged Arsenal to raise their standards again after ending a 22-year wait for the Premier League title, insisting the Gunners are targeting success on every front this season. Havertz believes the champions cannot afford to stand still as their domestic rivals bid to rein in the gap.

With the Community Shield against Manchester City looming before the start of their Premier League title defence against Coventry City, Arsenal are entering the new campaign with heightened expectations.

Being crowned English champions was a milestone but Havertz believes he and his team-mates now have the platform to compete for every major honour.

Last season's league triumph marked the end of Arsenal's long pursuit of domestic glory, but it was accompanied by UEFA Champions League heartbreak after Mikel Arteta's side fell to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the final despite Havertz finding the net.

For the Germany international, that disappointment has only fuelled Arsenal's desire to achieve even more.

"We want all the trophies," he said. "That's what we're here for. We've won the Premier League now, but there's a lot more that we can do.

"We have to reach another level to make that happen because we know how long the season is and how hard it is to go through all the competitions. We want to do it better again this year and make things happen again."

Arsenal have never successfully defended a Premier League title, while rivals Manchester City and Chelsea have both spent heavily this summer in an attempt to reclaim domestic supremacy.

"I think we can, or we have to go further," Havertz added.

"You see other teams are getting better, so we have to step up another level again. I think that's what we're all here for, that's what we train for. We want to start strong and achieve our goals this season again."

Arteta expects more transfer moves

Arsenal's preparations have been encouraging, with Havertz and new signing Christos Tzolis both on target in Saturday's 4-1 pre-season victory over Girona as Arteta continues to fine-tune his squad.

While Arsenal have already strengthened with the arrival of Tzolis, Arteta made it clear the club's summer business is not finished.

The Gunners manager refused to be drawn on reports linking the Premier League champions with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior, smiling and walking away when asked directly about the Brazil international.

Arteta did, however, confirm Arsenal remain active in the transfer market as they look to strengthen a title-winning squad.

"We are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That's clear," he said after the win over Girona.

"We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else.

"You can just see the transfer market and our opponents. What we are doing, we won't sit still and we are very ambitious in what we want to do."
