Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign England star Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, claims The Athletic's David Ornstein. Anderson is currently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with The Three Lions.

The midfielder played 50 games for Forest last term, scoring four goals and adding five assists. He had been linked with City's neighbours and rivals Manchester United, but it appears the Premier League runners-up have won the race for his signature.
The Athletic article reads: "The agreement follows a fresh and improved offer from City as they pushed to close the gap in valuations between the clubs.
"The 23-year-old has been given permission to travel for a medical with the deal subject to finalising personal terms.
"Forest had wanted the fixed fee of any sale of Anderson to be higher than the £125million ($164.9m) British record Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer."

Arsenal hold talks to sign Guimaraes
Premier League champions Arsenal have held talks with representatives of Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes over the possibility of a move this summer, according to a report in the Mail.
Mikel Arteta's side are keen to strengthen their midfield and have identified Guimaraes, who is currently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as one of their targets.
"Newcastle are braced for an approach from Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes after the Premier League champions held talks with the player’s camp," reads the report.
"Daily Mail Sport understands that representatives in the UK are gauging the market for the Brazil international.
"The 28-year-old is one of a handful of options Arsenal are monitoring as they consider whether to submit a formal offer.
"The Gunners are also targeting additions in attack and are keen on Morgan Rogers, though Aston Villa are demanding more than £100m for the England international.
"Guimaraes has not indicated any desire to leave Newcastle, but there is an awareness that his name is being discussed elsewhere. He has two years to run on his contract."
Newcastle reject second Tonali bid from Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have had a second bid rejected for midfielder Sandro Tonali, claims The Sun.
Spurs' opening offer for the Italian midfielder was said to be worth £75m - but Eddie Howe's Newcastle want £100m for one of their star players.
"Spurs asked The Mags to reconsider their opening £75m bid but were given another stern ‘no’ as the North East club hold out for £100m," states the outlet.
"Robert De Zerbi wants his compatriot to lead his Tottenham revolution with some St. James’ Park insiders believing that Tonali will depart the North East this summer.
"However, Newcastle hold all the cards over any exit with the star under contract until 2029, while they also have an option to trigger a further 12-month extension.
"But Toon will not sell on the cheap, and Sun Sport understands they will not entertain any Tonali sale unless they receive a figure around £100m."
Liverpool want Bouaddi, confident of landing Diomande
Liverpool are interested in Morocco star Ayyoub Bouaddi, claims the Mail, but are outsiders to land the midfielder.
The 18-year-old Lille sensation has caught the eye after an impressive showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe being linked with a move.
It is reported that while The Reds are monitoring the situation, they are unlikely to capture his signature.
The Mail writes: "One player in whom Liverpool's interest is more firm is Ayyoub Bouaddi, of Lille and Morocco. Liverpool like him but others are ahead in the race as The Reds consider their priorities. Fellow clubs in the hunt include Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City... the list goes on."
The report continues that Liverpool are growing frustrated in their pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande but are confident of getting a deal over the line.
"How long can they hold on to their prized asset, though? The Reds have a strong relationship with the German side, having bought Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from them in recent years.
"With Diomande up for the move, Liverpool making approaches and Leipzig resigned to selling, it all points in the direction of a deal being done. Patience might be needed."
Onana to rejoin Trabzonspor
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to spend a second season with Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig with the clubs close to agreeing a deal, reports the Mail.
The 30-year-old left Old Trafford last summer following the arrival of Senne Lammens and enjoyed an impressive campaign in Turkiye, winning the domestic cup with victory over Konyaspor.
The article states: ”Daily Mail Sport revealed last month that Trabzon wanted to keep Onana, and that another season on loan was the most likely outcome. United sources have confirmed that an agreement is close to being finalised between the two clubs.
”A permanent move would have been preferable so United could recoup some of the £47.2m paid to Inter Milan for Onana in the summer of 2023, but loaning him out again will resolve an awkward scenario."
Meanwhile, the Mirror claims United are targeting Scotland international and Nottingham Forest shot-stopper Angus Gunn as they search for a new second-choice goalkeeper.
