Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Morgan Rogers too expensive for Manchester United transfer rebuild - Paper Round

Manchester United are not willing to match the £120 million valuation Nottingham Forest have for midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Sandro Tonali and Morgan Rogers may also be seen as too expensive, with Mateus Fernandes of West Ham one potential alternative.

The i Paper claims: ”Anderson has long been seen as that marquee name. Yet, the current valuation of £120m is viewed as out of reach. Manchester City are a more likely destination, but senior sources are adamant there will be no panic if the Nottingham Forest star does not join.

”Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali is someone several sources have distanced themselves from, again over the fee. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba remains a top pick, as does Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. As it stands, Baleba is seen as the target who represents the best value for money.

”West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes is another key target. Premier League experience is a real plus point for the United recruitment team, given the success of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this season. Atalanta’s Ederson also falls into that more affordable bracket. Wolves’ Mateus Mane is a younger option.

”Left-back, left wing and centre-back are other areas the club are looking at strengthening. Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall are two other Premier League targets, while Sporting Lisbon left-back Maxi Araujo has been mentioned.

"Forest’s Murillo is a centre-back the club admire, while, further forward, Ajax’s Mika Godts and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande are being considered. Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers may be priced out of a move.”

Crystal Palace are the latest team to target Coventry City boss Frank Lampard as they prepare for their UEFA Conference final against Rayo Vallecano, live on May 27 on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

The Sun adds that there is also interest from fellow Premier League side Fulham, who will see Marco Silva leave in the summer.

The paper writes: ”Crystal Palace have made an audacious move to make Frank Lampard their new manager.

”SunSport understands the Conference League finalists sounded out the Coventry boss about replacing Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park.

”Prem rivals Fulham have also shown interest in Lampard if current chief Marco Silva leaves when his contract expires this summer.

”But Palace, who are on their way to Leipzig for their first Euro final against Rayo Vallecano on May 27, have made their first move for Lampard.”

Barcelona will finalise their transfer plans once their bid for the Liga title is decided in the coming weeks.

They will become champions again under Hansi Flick if they avoid defeat against Real Madrid this weekend.

That leaves Marcus Rashford waiting to hear what the Catalans will do with their £26 million clause agreed with Manchester United as part of his loan deal.

The Athletic writes: ”Barcelona are ready to start making decisions in this summer transfer window - and Marcus Rashford’s future is one of the first items on the agenda.

”Barca could sign the Manchester United loanee permanently this summer by triggering a €30 million ($35m; £26m) option in his deal. Senior figures at Barca, who were very pleased with Rashford’s output at the start of the season, recently told The Athletic their interest in signing the England international had cooled.

”Those close to the player maintain they have not been made aware of a final decision and say Rashford, 28, wants to stay at Barcelona next season. United are unwilling to reconsider the terms already agreed in the initial deal, while the figures involved in any deal have left Barca with major doubts.

”Club sources expect decisions about next season’s squad to be made as soon as the La Liga title is decided.”

Victor Froholdt is a target for Arsenal as they look to sign the 20-year-old midfielder from Porto this summer.

However, reports in Denmark suggest that Newcastle and Liverpool are also keen on the Danish international.

The Mirror reports: ”Mikel Arteta's Arsenal could secure a reduced fee for Porto's Victor Froholdt, with the club expressing interest in the 20-year-old. 

”Despite being only 20 years old, the midfielder, who typically operates on the right of a midfield three, has already earned 10 senior caps for Denmark.

”Alongside Arsenal and Newcastle, Danish publication Bold reports that Liverpool are also tracking the midfielder. He remains under contract with Porto until 2030. 

”Heading into the summer transfer window, Arteta's side have identified a new central midfielder and full-back as key targets ahead of the upcoming season.”
